A mix of bold blue and crisp white combined with modern design details and high-end appliances anchors this open concept kitchen. The well-detailed kitchen flows seamlessly to the adjoining dining room and family room with a complementary color scheme.

The owners requested a Private Resort that catered to their love for entertaining friends and family, a place where 2 people would feel just as comfortable as 42. Located on the western edge of a Wisconsin lake, the site provides a range of natural ecosystems from forest to prairie to water, allowing the building to have a more complex relationship with the lake - not merely creating large unencumbered views in that direction. The gently sloping site to the lake is atypical in many ways to most lakeside lots - as its main trajectory is not directly to the lake views - allowing for focus to be pushed in other directions such as a courtyard and into a nearby forest. The biggest challenge was accommodating the large scale gathering spaces, while not overwhelming the natural setting with a single massive structure. Our solution was found in breaking down the scale of the project into digestible pieces and organizing them in a Camp-like collection of elements: - Main Lodge: Providing the proper entry to the Camp and a Mess Hall - Bunk House: A communal sleeping area and social space. - Party Barn: An entertainment facility that opens directly on to a swimming pool & outdoor room. - Guest Cottages: A series of smaller guest quarters. - Private Quarters: The owners private space that directly links to the Main Lodge. These elements are joined by a series green roof connectors, that merge with the landscape and allow the out buildings to retain their own identity. This Camp feel was further magnified through the materiality - specifically the use of Doug Fir, creating a modern Northwoods setting that is warm and inviting. The use of local limestone and poured concrete walls ground the buildings to the sloping site and serve as a cradle for the wood volumes that rest gently on them. The connections between these materials provided an opportunity to add a delicate reading to the spaces and re-enforce the camp aesthetic. The oscillation between large communal spaces and private, intimate zones is explored on the interior and in the outdoor rooms. From the large courtyard to the private balcony - accommodating a variety of opportunities to engage the landscape was at the heart of the concept. This counter area between the wall and refrigerator makes a good appliance garage on the white quartz countertop. With high ceilings we took the cabinets all the way up, and mixed the brass bin pulls with simple black wrought-iron handles and knobs to accommodate the different cabinet sizes.

A custom Oven hood cover goes over the extraction fan, and was made by the cabinet shop. the molding makes a perfect spot for a piece of art that can be rotated as it just leans against the angled hood. A faux bead board style adds charm to the hood. A pot filler is another extra that is both useful and charming. Open floating shelves are perfect for displaying collections like these vintage pitchers platters, and seltzer bottles. Slide-in gas range works perfectly because it has no backplate!

This bespoke kitchen is the perfect blend of subtle elements alongside statement design. While the irregular ceiling heights and central pillar could have posed a problem, the clever colour scheme serves to draw your eye away from these areas and focuses instead on the dramatic charcoal grey cabinetry with its bevelled door detail and knurled, polished brass handles. A bespoke bar area with built-in Miele wine cooler has been hand-painted in a rich, luxurious shade of purple. While the use of an antique mirror splashback in this area further enhances the luxurious feel of the design. Reeded glass has been used in the display cabinets both within the bar and also either side of the sink, which has been strategically positioned by the window to allow lovely views out to the garden. The whole kitchen has been finished with Corian worktops, beautifully moulded to provide a seamless wet area along with an unobtrusive splashback and extractor hood above the Miele Induction hob. Other appliances include a Miele oven stack with warming drawer, a Quooker and an American style fridge freezer. A run of full height cabinetry has been provided along one wall with a double door larder cupboard, open shelving and a secret door leading through to the bespoke utility. In the centre of the room the large, square shaped island has ample space for storage and seating. Here a softer shade of blush pink has been chosen to delicately contrast with the deeper tones throughout the rest of the room.

A young family with kids purchased their first home and contacted me with the task to design an upbeat and energetic space for them, which also will have all the functionality they needed. There were some restrains - a load-bearing beam ran across the space leaving very little wall space on the left available. We've chosen European size appliances and creatively resolved the corner to allow the sink placement. and added a ton of color and shine.

This modern farmhouse kitchen features a beautiful combination of Navy Blue painted and gray stained Hickory cabinets that’s sure to be an eye-catcher. Beyond the beautiful exterior, there is so much well-thought-out storage and function behind each and every cabinet door. The two beautiful blue countertop towers that frame the modern wood hood and cooktop are two intricately designed larder cabinets built to meet the homeowner’s exact needs. The larder cabinet on the left is designed as a beverage center with apothecary drawers designed for housing beverage stir sticks, sugar packets, creamers, and other misc. coffee and home bar supplies. A wine glass rack and shelves provides optimal storage for a full collection of glassware while a power supply in the back helps power coffee & espresso (machines, blenders, grinders and other small appliances that could be used for daily beverage creations. The roll-out shelf makes it easier to fill clean and operate each appliance while also making it easy to put away. Pocket doors tuck out of the way and into the cabinet so you can easily leave open for your household or guests to access, but easily shut the cabinet doors and conceal when you’re ready to tidy up. Beneath the beverage center larder is a drawer designed with 2 layers of multi-tasking storage for utensils and additional beverage supplies storage with space for tea packets, and a full drawer of K-Cup storage. The cabinet below uses powered roll-out shelves to create the perfect breakfast center with power for a toaster and divided storage to organize all the daily fixings and pantry items the household needs for their morning routine. On the right, the second larder is the ultimate hub and center for the homeowner’s baking tasks. A wide roll-out shelf helps store heavy small appliances like a KitchenAid Mixer while making them easy to use, clean, and put away. Shelves and a set of apothecary drawers help house an assortment of baking tools, ingredients, mixing bowls and cookbooks. Beneath the counter a drawer and a set of roll-out shelves in various heights provides more easy access storage for pantry items, misc. baking accessories, rolling pins, mixing bowls, and more. The kitchen island provides a large worktop, seating for 3-4 guests, and even more storage! The back of the island includes an appliance lift cabinet used for a sewing machine for the homeowner’s beloved hobby, a deep drawer built for organizing a full collection of dishware, a waste recycling bin, and more! The majority of the cabinets are painted in Sherwin Williams Foggy Day. Stained cabinets surrounding the sink look like a piece of furniture. Stained open shelves make the space open and bright while bringing in additional warmth. The white subway tile backsplash on the entire kitchen perimeter wall keeps the kitchen light. The island is hard to miss as not only is it quite large but it gorgeous! The majority of the counter is Calacatta Laza by MSI while one end showcases a beautiful slab of wood.
