This unique custom wine cellar was installed in the La Costa / San Elijo Hills area in San Diego. Offset a few miles from the beach, this gorgeous area has the advantage of a constant sea breeze, keeping the surrounding microclimate some ten plus degrees cooler than just over the hill a bit further inland. This sleek and contemporary looking furniture piece, nestled up against the far wall within the temperature and humidity controlled wine room, acts as the main focus within the space. This style of racking fitted into the wine cabinet is the vintage view wall series. The wine cabinet also includes space for grouped bottles as well as wine case storage. The client's idea for the space was to have a gorgeous showpiece wall of wines, coupled with a small and intimate area to enjoy the bottles with friends. The small open space centered between the racking in this large wine cellar can also be utilized as a perfect spot to decant wine. Rodwin Architecture & Skycastle Homes Location: Boulder, Colorado, USA Interior design, space planning and architectural details converge thoughtfully in this transformative project. A 15-year old, 9,000 sf. home with generic interior finishes and odd layout needed bold, modern, fun and highly functional transformation for a large bustling family. To redefine the soul of this home, texture and light were given primary consideration. Elegant contemporary finishes, a warm color palette and dramatic lighting defined modern style throughout. A cascading chandelier by Stone Lighting in the entry makes a strong entry statement. Walls were removed to allow the kitchen/great/dining room to become a vibrant social center. A minimalist design approach is the perfect backdrop for the diverse art collection. Yet, the home is still highly functional for the entire family. We added windows, fireplaces, water features, and extended the home out to an expansive patio and yard. The cavernous beige basement became an entertaining mecca, with a glowing modern wine-room, full bar, media room, arcade, billiards room and professional gym. Bathrooms were all designed with personality and craftsmanship, featuring unique tiles, floating wood vanities and striking lighting. This project was a 50/50 collaboration between Rodwin Architecture and Kimball Modern

Thermally Broken Steel USA supplied the custom thermally broken steel wine cellar and a custom steel 90minute fire-rated entry door. Both assemblies were designed to look as though they came from the same frame collection but utilize completely different profiles due to the nature of the functionality required. The thermal break in our OS2 series steel frames keeps the wine cellar at the ideal temperature and the low iron glass makes for a perfect view of the owner's wine collection. Additionally, the custom fire rated steel entry door features the same handle and trim set as the wine cellar as well as a concealed floor mounted closer and fluted glass for privacy.

This custom wine cellar in Houston, Texas is stocked and ready for entertaining. The wine is floating on clear acrylic bottle cradles. The shelves in the center of the display hold the homeowner’s spirits at arm’s length from the bar. A state-of-the-art refrigeration system was carefully integrated into the design so that no mechanical equipment is visible. Inlaid, dimmable LED lighting adds to the ambiance of this custom wine wall. A frameless glass enclosure completes this modern display.
