Mulberry House

Named Capricorn, the piece was designed by Rosie Ridgway of April Hamilton Design. Rosie said “I covered Alexander Joseph’s cordless lamps in a blog not long after they had launched. Their products stuck me as the first genuinely new concept for the interiors sector in a long time. Over the past year I’ve come to know the people behind the business, their ethics and passion for handmade pieces, so I was delighted to be asked to design their very first floor lamp. The inspiration for the lamp came whilst holidaying in Sri Lanka. Mindfulness through meditation & yoga helps me to focus and rationalise ideas, creating a zen like state brings peace and the tranquillity needed to focus on details. I wanted to capture this feeling and state of being in this floor lamp. Whist on a shopping trip in Colombo I spotted a tie-dyed tassel and immediately decided it had to be at the centre of the piece. I also wanted to capture something of the night sky, so commissioned a beautiful handblown glass sphere to suspend the tassel from. I wanted the structure to echo the frame of an Asian temple bell”.
