Amos Goldreich ArchitectureAmos Goldreich Architecture
Amos Goldreich Architecture has completed an asymmetric brick extension that celebrates light and modern life for a young family in North London. The new layout gives the family distinct kitchen, dining and relaxation zones, and views to the large rear garden from numerous angles within the home. The owners wanted to update the property in a way that would maximise the available space and reconnect different areas while leaving them clearly defined. Rather than building the common, open box extension, Amos Goldreich Architecture created distinctly separate yet connected spaces both externally and internally using an asymmetric form united by pale white bricks. Previously the rear plan of the house was divided into a kitchen, dining room and conservatory. The kitchen and dining room were very dark; the kitchen was incredibly narrow and the late 90’s UPVC conservatory was thermally inefficient. Bringing in natural light and creating views into the garden where the clients’ children often spend time playing were both important elements of the brief. Amos Goldreich Architecture designed a large X by X metre box window in the centre of the sitting room that offers views from both the sitting area and dining table, meaning the clients can keep an eye on the children while working or relaxing. Amos Goldreich Architecture enlivened and lightened the home by working with materials that encourage the diffusion of light throughout the spaces. Exposed timber rafters create a clever shelving screen, functioning both as open storage and a permeable room divider to maintain the connection between the sitting area and kitchen. A deep blue kitchen with plywood handle detailing creates balance and contrast against the light tones of the pale timber and white walls. The new extension is clad in white bricks which help to bounce light around the new interiors, emphasise the freshness and newness, and create a clear, distinct separation from the existing part of the late Victorian semi-detached London home. Brick continues to make an impact in the patio area where Amos Goldreich Architecture chose to use Stone Grey brick pavers for their muted tones and durability. A sedum roof spans the entire extension giving a beautiful view from the first floor bedrooms. The sedum roof also acts to encourage biodiversity and collect rainwater. Continues Amos Goldreich, Director of Amos Goldreich Architecture says: “The Framework House was a fantastic project to work on with our clients. We thought carefully about the space planning to ensure we met the brief for distinct zones, while also keeping a connection to the outdoors and others in the space. “The materials of the project also had to marry with the new plan. We chose to keep the interiors fresh, calm, and clean so our clients could adapt their future interior design choices easily without the need to renovate the space again.” Clients, Tom and Jennifer Allen say: “I couldn’t have envisioned having a space like this. It has completely changed the way we live as a family for the better. We are more connected, yet also have our own spaces to work, eat, play, learn and relax.” “The extension has had an impact on the entire house. When our son looks out of his window on the first floor, he sees a beautiful planted roof that merges with the garden.”

Ultramodern German Kitchen in Worthing, West Sussex This German kitchen project in Worthing required extensive structural works to divide two rooms and create an open-plan space. Designer Phil has created an ultramodern handleless kitchen space, complete with high-tech appliances and TV area. The Brief A spacious and vast open-plan kitchen was the end goal of this project, which was not an easy task considering the space was originally two rooms. Advanced structural works were required to support the rest of the property, with flooring, lighting and an exterior bi-fold door also part of the plans. Designer Phil was tasked with envisaging a design which incorporated all this client’s requirements, whilst implementing a homely and modern kitchen theme. Design Elements Before fitting the kitchen, our structural team had to undertake significant works. Following the removal of a dividing wall, four steels had to be fixed in a square formation to support the property, this left a huge space for the kitchen Phil had designed for this client. A homely, yet modern theme was preferred with a combination of Stone Grey and Slate grey matt units opted for. These two finishes are complimented by Havana oak wood accents and the handless design of the kitchen. To meet the client’s requirements, an island, TV area and full-height corner storage feature, in addition to a wall-to-wall run which houses kitchen appliances and storage. Special Inclusions Special inclusions are aplenty in this kitchen. A grid of appliances is comprised of a Neff slide & hide oven, combination oven, warming drawer, coffee centre and Caple wine cabinet. Each provide an array of useful functions for this client, and elsewhere are accompanied by a Neff induction hob, Neff telescopic extractor hood and a Quooker 100°C boiling water tap. Designer Phil has incorporated numerous design features like a glass-ended unit on the island, cookbook storage space, feature shelving in the TV area and a raised natural wood work surface on the island. Our structural team were also tasked with widening an exterior doorway and fitting bi-fold doors which look out to the vibrant garden. Project Highlight The TV area is a lovely highlight of this project. Phil has framed this with additional storage and decorative wood effect shelving. Nearby a full-height radiator and full-height storage provide warmth and even more storage to the kitchen space. The End Result The end result is a space that is unrecognisable and has been completely transformed with the expertise of our fitting team. In addition to the structural works, Karndean flooring, lighting and heating improvements have been made involving almost every facet of our installation team. Kitchen Interior Design Project in Richmond, West London We were approached by a couple who had seen our work and were keen for us to mastermind their project for them. They had lived in this house in Richmond, West London for a number of years so when the time came to embark upon an interior design project, they wanted to get all their ducks in a row first. We spent many hours together, brainstorming ideas and formulating a tight interior design brief prior to hitting the drawing board. Reimagining the interior of an old building comes pretty easily when you’re working with a gorgeous property like this. The proportions of the windows and doors were deserving of emphasis. The layouts lent themselves so well to virtually any style of interior design. For this reason we love working on period houses. It was quickly decided that we would extend the house at the rear to accommodate the new kitchen-diner. The Shaker-style kitchen was made bespoke by a specialist joiner, and hand painted in Farrow & Ball eggshell. We had three brightly coloured glass pendants made bespoke by Curiousa & Curiousa, which provide an elegant wash of light over the island. The initial brief for this project came through very clearly in our brainstorming sessions. As we expected, we were all very much in harmony when it came to the design style and general aesthetic of the interiors. In the entrance hall, staircases and landings for example, we wanted to create an immediate ‘wow factor’. To get this effect, we specified our signature ‘in-your-face’ Roger Oates stair runners! A quirky wallpaper by Cole & Son and some statement plants pull together the scheme nicely.

Specially engineered walnut timber doors were used to add warmth and character to this sleek slate handle-less kitchen design. The perfect balance of simplicity and luxury was achieved by using neutral but tactile finishes such as concrete effect, large format porcelain tiles for the floor and splashback, onyx tile worktop and minimally designed frameless cupboards, with accents of brass and solid walnut breakfast bar/dining table with a live edge.

For our latest project – a navy blue and oak kitchen - artistry meets practicality to ensure a contemporary space which offers true ‘wow factor’. Embracing the timeless appeal of Matt lacquer RAL 5004 Black Blue, seamlessly paired with the warmth of Syncroface Oak, this kitchen design features a Marbled White Quartz worktop. To bring balance to the space, we combined open and closed shelving, striking a perfect equilibrium between accessible display and discreet storage. The art of wine appreciation finds its ideal abode with bottle storage nestled thoughtfully beneath the cosy coffee nook. The cross-reeded glass cabinet door crowning the coffee nook shelf is a nod to classic elegance and modern style. Functionality and convenience merge seamlessly with the inclusion of the innovative Quooker tap, providing instant boiling water, when required. As our clients prepare their meals, the geometric backsplash adds a delightful visual accent. We cleverly incorporate a hidden sink for a clutter-free countertop, maintaining the kitchen's seamless aesthetic while ensuring the workspace stays neat and organised. The addition of wooden cabinet door handles further enhances the natural charm of this contemporary kitchen, creating a tactile and inviting environment for every cooking adventure. This latest project is a testament to our dedication to creating kitchens that lie at the intersection of form and function. Feeling inspired by our latest kitchen design? Natural German Kitchen in Mannings Heath, West Sussex Our contract team completed this stone effect kitchen for a three-plot barn conversion near Mannings Heath. The Brief This project was undertaken as part of a barn conversion for a local property developer, with our contract kitchen team designing and installing this project. When the plot was purchased, the purchaser sought to make a few changes to suit their style and personal design requirements. A modern design was required, and a natural stone finish was eventually favoured. Design Elements A stone effect option has been used throughout the project and the finish is one from German supplier Nobilia’s Stoneart range. The natural stone finish nicely compliments the modern style of the property and has been fitted with multiple contemporary additions. Most of the kitchen furniture is used across the back wall, with full-height and wall units reaching almost wall-to-wall. A sizeable island is included and has plenty of space for bar stools and entertaining. A handleless design was favoured for the project and under rail lighting has been used to enhance the ambience in the kitchen. Special Inclusions High-quality Siemens cooking appliances have been utilised, adding great cooking functionality to this space. The IQ700 single oven, combination oven and warming drawer opted for provide lots of useful functions for the client. Elsewhere, a Siemens fridge freezer and Miele dishwasher have been integrated behind kitchen furniture. A contemporary satin grey splashback is in keeping with the stone effect furniture on the design side, whilst a 1.5 bowl under-mounted sink has been used for function. Project Highlight Plots on this development each have allocated space for a utility, which has been furnished with matching kitchen units. This utility also features a small sink and tap for convenience. The End Result The end result is a kitchen designed to perfectly suit the clients’ requirements as well as the style and layout of this new property. This project was undertaken by our contract kitchen team.
