“Thank Goodness we found Appetite for Construction! Our family was in the beginning stages of a major remodeling project when we lost our contractor to unforeseen circumstances. We panicked! Most companies were completely booked when we got a referral from a friend to given Mike (owner and general contractor) a call. That phone call started a one year relationship with Mike and his crew and we cannot say enough good things about him and his company. First of all he was able to squeeze us into an already very busy schedule of his, and despite being extremely busy we immediately knew we would be well taken care of. It's not an easy task to take over a project that had been started by another company. His strong communication and extensive experience working on remodeling homes definetnly showed. The transition was smooth and he was able to keep our original timeline and meet all expectations we originally had for the project. My husband and i were amazed at his ability to navigate working with the original sub-contractors that were already lined up to work. When Mike's crew came in to do parts of the project they were all professional, efficient and very easy to work with as well. Mike clearly has good established relationships with the building inspectors and is an expert in knowing all the in's and out's of the city's proccess. I believe only ONE of the inspections didn't pass (a minor change needed to be made), which allowed us to stay on time and ON BUDGET! Mike is also a designer in disguise. When getting to the finish work, he offered suggestions on how certain details could add better function but also better design overall. We were sold on his ideas and the execution and attention to detail was spot on. We could not be happier with how our project turned out. So much so, we already have future projects in the works. “Update from fall 2014: We hired AOC again for a set of smaller projects; painting the front of the house, replacing windows and putting a door in an exterior wall. Kyle and his team was fantastic, skilled, and trustworthy throughout. They stayed on schedule, on budget, and as we now have 2 kids and way less time, we were thrilled at how proactive Kyle is with excellent decision-making and instincts. He's been incredibly responsive since the project has finished, including bringing his electrician out to help with what I thought was a faulty LED fixture and which actually was just an incandescent bulb replacement. Whoops. They were all very generous about that one. I've heard stories of contractors disappearing after the final check is written, and we've had the opposite experience with AOC. We will indeed hire them again! Original review: We worked with Kyle at Art of Construction on our substantial project, including both renovation and new construction. We couldn't be more happy with the entire process - he's really great at working with project owners, staying on top of details, problem-solving when issues come up, is very collaborative, tech-savvy, has an eye for design, and is a nice guy to boot. Our project was fixed-bid, and change orders were only when obviously necessary (such as adding new windows to the project scope). He finished the project on-time and within-budget, neither of which we were actually assuming would happen. We worked hard at being good clients, but he exceeded our expectations and we're looking forward to working with him again.”
