I watched him do a complete remodel on a friends house from new basement to kitchen and decided we wanted him to do our home with adding beams to the family room and kitchen along with removing a builder grade mantle and adding old wood beams. He then planned all the trades needed to get the project done right and in correct stages. Bruce is a craftsman and made sure all small details were completed right. “We moved to Conifer, Colorado 14 years ago. 13 Years ago I needed a deck built – and I needed it built in 2 weeks! A neighbor recommended Don Greenless – I called Don, we met, and my deck was built in 2 weeks !! Gray Eagle worked on the deck through severe weather – they would hunker down beneath cover, let the weather pass, and get back to work – to me, that was proof of a great work ethic. Since then, Gray Eagle Builders built a Mud Room on the front entrance, heated tile floor, skylights, glass door to the deck they built, a door to the garage and a large closet. My wife and I try to work out every day, but working out in the garage was not so fun – so, I asked Gray Eagle Builders to covert the lower deck of the house to a workout room. They reinforced the deck, installed flooring and closed the deck in with large windows, its own roof and gutter system, gas heat, and a carpeted floor. We use this room almost daily.. Try to stay healthy and strong… I play in a local band (Ruth Israel & The Band, Once Removed), we wanted to rehearse in the basement but there was a pole in the middle of the room. I asked Don what it would take to remove the pole; he came back to me a week or so later and told me he could do it – and he did. Don and his tradesman installed five (5) steel beams and removed the pole! We rehearsed there for a couple of years. After the band grew, we realized we needed a larger space, I met with Don, and he designed a 2,000 sq ft rehearsal/recording studio across the driveway – so now we rehearse in a beautiful studio built above a 6 car garage – so, when people say we are a garage band, we say, we are just above a garage band.. After Don built the 6 car garage, we really didn’t need the 3 car garage that is attached to the main house; so, I asked Don to convert it to a game room. He came up with some very interesting ideas – you need to see this Game Room! It is absolutely wonderful – the floor is unique, and again, we had another pole that had to be removed; Don installed two beams to hold up the floor and roof that are above the garage. He removed the attic that was above the garage, giving the space the ability to have skylights. Very Cool. Don also recently built us a Hot Tub Room – it’s almost finished !! The local Hot Tub store (in Conifer) had an awesome Labor Day Sale – so we got a great deal on a Lazy Boy Hot Tub. We wanted the ability to use the Hot Tub after working out, so Don extended the workout room and added an enclosed Hot Tub room. Cedar Walls and Ceiling, and the largest windows with an exhaust vent, large TV and Speaker System – great place to relax. Don has also installed two (2) SCAN Fireplaces for us; 1 in the main house, and 1 in the studio. This has greatly reduced our heating costs (Thank You Don!). My Wife and I want to purchase a piece of property – we want Don to build us a Stable and a Custom Home – and we want him to do it in stages; as we can afford it. So, he’s tasked with helping us find the property, and building our dream home, one step at a time. He can do it. He knows how to build, he’s done it for a very long time. Don's Wife, Karla is awesome to work with; she keeps the books, and makes certain all the accounting is up to date. If there's ever a question on accounting, the record keeping is intact. “We moved from California to Colorado and bought a house that had never been updated since it was built in 1980. It looked awful but had good bones. It had carpet throughout, linoleum, separate but large kitchen, popcorn ceilings, windows that needed replacing, orange peel wall texture, no mantle on the 15x20ft moss rock fireplace, small wood baseboards and door casings, no lighting or ceiling fans, outdated window coverings in the living room that actually had an insert into the wall to accompany some of the thick curtains, square corners, a mirrored wetbar in the long hallway with a 'cat perch' or landing for plants on top of it, thin plank stair rails, 1980 appliances, etc. I interviewed several interior designers and remodelers for this and decided to go with Andy Sikora of Sikora Construction & Remodel & his wife,. Kathy at Speas Interior Design. I knew it was a huge project and wanted someone who had extensive experience and testimonials so I went with him and his wife's company. Working together as a design and remodel team, his crew got to work tearing down walls in between the kitchen and dining, opening up entry ways, tearing out wetbars, rebuilding the kitchen and cabinet space including framing, sheetrock, hvac, building stairwalls, retexturing, painting, trimwork, gas, plumbing, electrical and lighting, backsplash installation and whatever else was on the scope of work to open up the kitchen into the dining and living room and make an updated, open concept living area. Andy and his crew were very professional, got things done quickly and expertly, cleaned up after themselves, were polite, positive and a joy to work with. He provided a detailed scope of work at the beginning and then monthly thereafter, we chose what we wanted to do, any change orders needed to be signed off by us and there were no financial surprises.. I was also glad I hired Sikora Construction and Speas Interior Deisgn because I wanted flawless communication between the design and construction so we did not waste time or energy to complete this remodel. “Tim Jennings is the contractor to work with if you are thinking of remodeling. We chose Epic in June of this year for a huge remodel we had been thinking about for awhile. The work included the kitchen, two baths, all floors, additional lighting, glass shelving, and stucco repair. Tim estimated that it would take 2 to 3 months and we were done in 9 weeks. We lived in the basement during the remodel and were so impressed with how the work got done. Tim is very detail oriented.. Nothing got done without our approval and we always knew who to expect at the house and when. Each team showed up when expected and as planned. They were professional and respectful and cleaned up the job site (aka..the main floor of my house) as reasonably well as they could. I will admit that I was nervous about having so many strangers coming into my house, as we have a teenage daughter and I have heard horror stories. Our experience couldn't have been better.. By the end of the job some of the team felt like family. Their professionalism was very impressive.. They took breaks outside of the house, brought their own food and water, and if we needed them to pause work so we could take a call (I work from the house) they were quick to accommodate. We all agreed to work through Tim and his project management skills, combined with his expertise of the construction, housing and mortgage industries.. Did I mentioned we got a renovation loan?.. His sensitivity to the stress and pressure homeowners go through made him an ideal fit. As for the result.. We LOVE it! I will admit there were times when I had my doubts, but they were related to my color choices and not the workmanship that Tim delivered. We had a neighbor up a few houses up from us who is still completing her remodel after 9 months. It started before we did and she is furious about the poor craftsmanship, workers not sticking to commitments, attitude from the contractor and a lack of integrity. I feel terrible for her, and immensely grateful for our choice. We were hesitant to go into the process because those were the only types of stories we would hear. Remodels are tough, and Tim.
