“We have used Winn Design on two different occasions. The first, in 2007, was a project to replace the exterior doors, windows, and siding of our 1969 ranch house. As part of the project, we added a natural wood portico to the front entrance. More than 5 years later we still have people stop to take pictures and ask us who has done the construction. In 2010 we contracted again with Winn to extend and completely remodel our kitchen. As this was our first experience with a project of this size, the design process was very daunting. However, Winn patiently worked with us over a few months through many revisions until we had a design that fit our needs and budget. During construction we went on vacation and the project manager sent us pictures and summaries on almost a daily basis so that we could keep up with the progress of the project. As the different trades came to the project we were impressed by the quality of the subcontractors Winn used. Several trades mentioned that Winn was one of their favorite companies to work with. Happy and skilled subcontractors are also key to a successful project! Renovations can be very intimidating and stressful on a marriage. We are very grateful that Winn, through their professionalism and quality of work, made the process as pleasant and successful as we might have hoped for. Now, with more than 2 years behind us, we know that we made the right choice to use them. There are many contractor horror stories out there, but you won’t have one with Winn.”

“In the past we used a design/build company and did not feel that we had control over the process or the budget. When we reviewed the bill we found the mark-up was excessive, especially when sub-contractors were used for most of the work. This time around we chose to use Chad with Arlington Construction Mangement because of the ability to control expenses, choose the products used in building our addition and select our own sub-contractors. The ability to get several estimates and meet the subs for each trade beforehand made a huge difference in our experience. “Spectrum has done a full bathroom and basement renovation for us, in addition to several smaller projects including replacing all the exterior doors to the house and refinishing our front porch. The quality of the work is excellent. Communicating for the purpose of planning and providing feedback is easy due to their rapid response and liberal use of email and cell contact. They responded well to feedback regarding the work site when we had complaints about dust and so forth. The quality of their work holds up; our bathroom completed in 2008 continues to be in terrific condition. They were described by the person who referred them, an architect, very accurately. “My husband and I had debated for several months if we should move to a larger space, or renovate our current home for our expanding family. I had brought this up with Rick Byrd, the owner of Byrd Design and Build (BDB), and he immediately came to our house to talk with us through all of our options. He walked through our house and really gave us some amazing plans to make the space we already had more usable and more modern and up to date. This was the perfect option for us, considering we were expecting our first child. He laid out all of the different renovation plans we could have and really helped us envision a space catered to our wants and needs. My husband works from home, so we thought it was going to be a difficult journey to do an almost complete gut job of our basement and first floor kitchen/bedroom/bath, but BDB did an amazing job accommodating him and being cautious of the space we weren’t renovating. During the construction process, all of the subcontractors of BDB were extremely nice, non-invasive and very courteous of everything in the house. Darren, the project manager, was always attentive and mindful of our timeline, which was shortened due to the arrival of our new baby. We have the perfect new nursery, brand new kitchen and bathroom, and an entirely finished basement all just in time for our son. Everything was completed in a timely fashion and in pristine condition. We are obsessed with our basically “new” house!”

She took the time to ask the right questions and really listen to my husband and I as we described what what most important to us. Erika took all of this into consideration while sourcing items for our home, finding us items that we not only loved, but could feel good about buying for our family. My husband and I joke that Erika knows what we really want before we do, but it's not really a joke. She puts great care into her work and it's incredibly important to her that her clients love the finished product - and we most certainly do!”

“I purchased a foreclosured town house that had possibly the worst yellow kitchen you ever saw. NVS transformed my space and added thousands of dollars of value to my home. One of their in-house designers came up with the idea to tear down a wall. I would never had thought of that, but it opened up my floor plan and made my home feel much newer than it actual is. Also, their tile-person came to me with ideas of his own. For just a little more cost to me he added decorative glass tiles that really turned my backsplash and floor into a work of art. I'm currently saving up money to redo my master bathroom, and I already plan to give NVS my work.”
