They are completely committed to ensuring the project stays on time (where weather permit), on budget, and that the client is happy. “Robert Khazzam designed our rooftop garden in early 2014, and the installation was completed in fall of 2014. He did an amazing job and my wife and i have been absolutely thrilled with the result. We came to Robert with only some preliminary ideas of what we wanted out of the garden. He developed a beautiful design that absolutely transformed the rooftop. The design made great use of the existing space, using curved plant beds to separate the space into two different areas, but keeping a flowing, open feel to the entire roof. He was very receptive to our thoughts and suggestions as the design progressed, but added a number of features that we hadn't thought of and integrated all of these features into a unified design with a polished, professional look. Robert had a very deep knowledge of the plants that were included in the garden. He included plants that worked very well for the climate and location, and as a result the plants have absolutely thrived. He intentionally included different layers of plants that bloom at various times from the spring to fall, so we've been fascinated to see the garden constantly change as the seasons evolve. He also had a thorough understanding of the requirements for installing the garden, so that the installation went very smoothly and the finished garden matched the design perfectly. My wife and I had looked at options for finishing our roof for years, and we have often commented that we never thought it would turn out as well as it did. I would highly recommend Robert for designing a garden or outdoor space, and we're very grateful for the work he did for us.”

“Gary's insight into how to make the most of your property amazes me. He made a few immediate observations about what we/guests see or don't see upon approaching our home, and guided us through a process on how to dramatically improve it. With no direct access to our street from our front door, Gary redesigned our front lawn, carving a serpentine path of unique pavers, and added stone steps to our newly covered front porch and walkway to the curb. He ripped out all of the 40 year old overgrown shrubs from the front lawn and driveway, and replaced them with young and healthy plantings sprinked with lots of colorful trees and flowers. Further, with any visitors formerly only seeing our home from the bottom end of our driveway and the original only point of access, Gary ripped out the deteriorated drive and replaced it with a continuation of the serpentine flow of pavers that now frame the drive and connect to both the new front walkway and a path to our back lawn and pool. We could not recommend anyone or any company more highly!”

“Our first project with Esswein Associates entailed a total redesign and construction of our backyard and pool. The scope of this project was grand. It included gutting the existing pool and patio and building a new tile pool with bi level granite decking. The upper level of the decking is where a spa sits, spilling over into the pool. Behind that, Esswein built a custom Pavillion where we can enjoy the shade while still keeping our eyes on the pool. In addition to that, Esswein broke up the existing patio attached to the back of the house and designed and installed a much larger granite living space, complete with built in outdoor kitchen, bar area and pergola. To complete the project, the landscape of the entire 1 &1/4 acre of the backyard was redesigned and planted with large trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials. There was literally nothing that Esswein Associates did not plan for and execute in a professional manner to create our "more than we could have dreamed of" backyard living space. Mark Esswein and his team were here every day and were all very reliable, respectful and courteous. We lived here during this process, and it was a pleasure to have such a nice group of people here. Two years later, We hired them again. This time to reinvent our front acre, The scope consisted of enlarging our very long driveway, adding a "parking" area and redesigning and planting the entire front yard. With each project, Mark designed a beautiful, grand plan. With each project he delivered a beautiful ,grand plan. Mark is a pleasure to work with. So much so, that we look forward to each new season, when he and his crew come to plant our annuals and garden pots. We are happy to say we consider our relationship with Mark Esswein to be "for life."”

“I had quite a few landscape design firms come in to spec out the landscaping for our home. Each time, I would carefully lay out the look we wanted (specimen estate-style planting, lots of grass, neat and tidy boxwoods, etc.) and each time we'd get back a design which was completely not responsive. Perhaps our Cold Spring Harbor/Lloyd Harbor address caused these firms to throw every plant they had into the plan just to run up the budget, I don't know. What a relief to finally meet Kevin Natalie and to finally find someone who listens (attentively) and who had a remarkable vision. He took our ideas and brought them to a whole new level. He also supervised all aspects of the installation to make sure it came out the way we wanted. We couldn't be happier.”

“I hired Louis Contino Landscaping for a large scale project. The project entailed design work, grading, masonry, outdoor kitchen, landscaping, irrigation and plumbing.
