“My husband and I liked Kate from the first meeting because she is such a good listener. As we worked with her, we found her to be very professional, yet friendly, and responsive whenever we needed assitance.
At the start of the project, she specifically asked what pieces we wanted to keep in the room and incorporated all of them nicely into the design. Our home is a circa 1880 farmhouse and the project was a total remodel of our living room and entrance hall, inlcuding new drywall and ceiling. She also designed new window treatments for our sleeping porch. Kate introduced us to a contractor who handled the construction, electric and painting and she assisted in our communications with the contractor throughout the project. Kate recommended a perfect solution for window treatements in both rooms, offering suggestions that were updated, yet complimentary to the period of our home. We spent several appointments in our home deciding on fabric and Kate was very patient and helpful, but never pushy, in finding fabrics that suited both my husband and me (which was not an easy task!). Kate recommended light fixtures, their placement in each room and she purchased them for us through a lighting showroom. Kate assisted in our choice of chairs and her recommendation of a fabric ottoman was the perfect solution to our small space, but need for comfort for the chairs we "live in." Kate took our burgandy living room with a popcorn ceiing and created a bright, showcase beautiful area that is respectful to the period of our home and a very comfortable living space.
We have plans to work with Kate again in the near future on a dining room project. I highly recommend Kate Abt Design.”
