“Mr Clark was recommended to us by our Builder when we decided that we wanted a large extension built. After meeting with Mr Clark we were happy to employ him as our Architect for our project. He is clearly an experienced Architect and provided us with suggestions and ideas throughout the process of having the plans drawn up. Mr Clark is very approachable and listened very carefully to what we wanted to have included in our extension. He was able to put our thoughts and ideas into the drawings which made us feel part of the process. Any issues with the drawings were very quickly and professionally dealt with by Mr Clark. We were also very grateful to him for overseeing the administration side with the Planning Department and working closely with our Builder and Structural Engineer. He contacted us regularly to give us updates on the drawings and the planning process. We thought that his professional fees were extremely good value and would have no reservation in recommending Mr Clark as an Architect.”

“We bought the flat above ours in the tenement we live in, and we asked Studio DuB to redesign the joint double-flat from scratch, and then to project manage this, bringing in builders and other contractors they knew and trusted. They were superb in leading this from the outset to the finish, and we are really delighted with the results. The costings were presented in a very clear way, and design choices were made easy and clear at every stage. The network they have amongst trustworthy Edinburgh contractors, surveyors and other specialists was the next element in making this work smoothly and successfully, on time, and cost-effectively. They were easy to work with, and were good at eliciting from us what we wanted in overall terms, and where specific choices were needed, or changes to the operations conducted by the builders were needed, under time pressure, we always knew we were well supported and they would ensure a successful and top quality outcome. We had a vision of what ideally the double flat would look like, and we are now living in it and loving it. G + H.”

“Studio AWA recently designed and project-managed the renovation of our house. The brief was to open up the ground floor to let in more natural light, and to make more efficient use of the living space. Studio AWA spent a significant amount of time at the outset of the project speaking to us to better understand our desired outcome and getting an understanding of our style preferences. This time was invaluable as it allowed Studio AWA to suggest ideas that we had not considered and which had a huge impact on the finished product. This included enlarging and adding additional windows, and inserting large sliding glass doors at the rear of the house. Studio AWA also provided kitchen and bathroom design services for us and, based on the high quality of this work, we asked for additional interior design help. Studio AWA provided a comprehensive service which included the selection and hiring of the quantity surveyor, engineers and building contractor, and full supervision and coordination of all the works. We were given regular updates on progress throughout. We are really happy with the finished product which has met the objectives of our brief and gone some way beyond. Our home has been transformed to provide us with a more modern, brighter, open plan living space. We would be happy to recommend Studio AWA to anyone.”

“I would not hesitate to recommend Calum Duncan Architects. They designed and project managed an extension and internal remodelling to our house. We are delighted with the design and finished project, it does not look or feel like the same house. They have incorporated some really creative and thoughtful ideas into the design. We never would have imagined our previously ugly house could look so good!”

“I contacted three builders about getting an estimate for a loft conversion and only one got back to me. He recommended a local architect and everything moved swiftly and smoothly from there. The design of the upgrade to my 1850s end terrace cottage grew hands and feet but was never allowed to go crazy because of the sensible heads in charge. The joiner/builder and architect complemented each other and I am left with a property, the beauty of which was summed up in one question put to me by the joiner. "Is there anything you would change?" I answered that there is nothing I would change. Everybody who has been here since has complemented the design. Early on the knowledge and experience was evident in abundance from Lucas Dow Design Studios. The vision of an architect is something you pay for. I maintain my position - I would not change anything. The inside, which is not shown in the photos provided, is the triumph.”
