Wave House, North Beach

Designed while Neil was a director at Overman & Zuideveld Architects the house is located at the Perth beach side suburb of North Beach. The house has panoramic west facing views over the Indian Ocean and the beautiful setting sunsets. Designed for a young surfer who was single at the time, the house reflects his passion for the ocean and surfing. The house has been designed to fit into the suburb which has a classic beachside grungy feel (it is a bit like a Huntington Beach feel). The form of the house reflects the shape of a breaking wave. The view to the west and the conflict with the heat of the setting sun and the strong winds off the ocean required lots of sun and wind control measures to the front of the house. These included the external aluminium remote controlled venation blinds, the protected balcony with adjustable louver roof blades over. Robert Frith
