The owners style is very clean and modern and they wanted the same look for the outside as they have inside. Orange and blue are the interior accents. The espalier of Cape Honeysuckle will grow tall behind the Buddah. From inside the blue tiled block contrasts well with the orange flowers of the honeysuckle. Succulents and Agaves fill the bottom. The rest of the plants are muted and calm. We transplanted fruit trees to the sunny wall.

Three raised beds make the most of limited growing space in this compact garden. I was invited to do the planting design for this compact hillside project after the hardscape was complete. The home is situated on a corner lot, and a number of very narrow beds and stepped planting arrows wrap the house in a "C" shape. The homeowner was looking for plantings that would be soft and inviting for her children, and welcome birds, bees, and butterflies to the garden. Kelly Greenwood

Floating wood and smooth stucco entry wall with stainless mounted address numbers. Decorative gravel in custom modular concrete pads. Contemporary wood bench. Dry stream bed with natural river rock boulders offsets the tight geometry of the entry. Xeriscape drought tolerant landscape plants with succulents, native grasses and shrubs. Plants include Kangaroo Paw, Agave Attenuata, Coleonema 'Sunset', Agave 'Blue Glow', Pennisetum 'Fireworks', Cercidium 'Desert Museum', Salvia Gregii, Escallonia Fradesii, Festuca Glauca, and several varieties of Echeveria. A bluestone walk moves through ornamental onion, groundcover and containers on its way to the back yard. In addition to the walkway, the bluestone also serves as a border down each side of the driveway.

Native perennials and ornamental grasses means less maintenance and lower water consumption. Large rocks and the peaceful sculpture nestled among the plants suggests balance and harmony. The color palette is vibrant and modern, giving it a warm but contemporary look.

The final product is a house with great curb appeal!! The cement looks like a work of art as it is offset by beds of plantings and grass. There are raised beds next to flat patio space creating a nice change in height to the eye. This is the jewel of the neighborhood!!

Small garden in Brixton designed for young children and sophisticated enough to link in style with the new kitchen extension/remodelled house. Artificial grass was combined with scented Lavender and Trachleospermum with year round structure from standard Olea (Olive) trees and Magnolia Grandiflora. Cedar slats were used for the fencing to give a clean and modern line. A lovely low maintenance garden!
