Our client initially asked us to assist with selecting materials and designing a guest bath for their new Tucson home. Our scope of work progressively expanded into interior architecture and detailing, including the kitchen, baths, fireplaces, stair, custom millwork, doors, guardrails, and lighting for the residence – essentially everything except the furniture. The home is loosely defined by a series of thick, parallel walls supporting planar roof elements floating above the desert floor. Our approach was to not only reinforce the general intentions of the architecture but to more clearly articulate its meaning. We began by adopting a limited palette of desert neutrals, providing continuity to the uniquely differentiated spaces. Much of the detailing shares a common vocabulary, while numerous objects (such as the elements of the master bath – each operating on their own terms) coalesce comfortably in the rich compositional language. A referral from an awesome client lead to this project that we paired with Tschida Construction. We did a complete gut and remodel of the kitchen and powder bathroom and the change was so impactful. We knew we couldn't leave the outdated fireplace and built-in area in the family room adjacent to the kitchen so we painted the golden oak cabinetry and updated the hardware and mantle. The staircase to the second floor was also an area the homeowners wanted to address so we removed the landing and turn and just made it a straight shoot with metal spindles and new flooring. The whole main floor got new flooring, paint, and lighting.

This jewel of a powder room started with our homeowner's obsession with William Morris "Strawberry Thief" wallpaper. After assessing the Feng Shui, we discovered that this bathroom was in her Wealth area. So, we really went to town! Glam, luxury, and extravagance were the watchwords. We added her grandmother's antique mirror, brass fixtures, a brick floor, and voila! A small but mighty powder room.

A 'hidden gem' within this home. It is dressed in a soft lavender wallcovering and the dynamic amethyst mirror is the star of this little space. Its golden accents are mimicked in the crystal door knob and satin oro-brass facet that tops a re-purposed antiqued dresser, turned vanity.
