This Master Bathroom has a light and airy coastal feel with blues, neutrals and white in the tile, paint and finishes. The large soaking tub is featured under a large window and the his and hers vanities have tons of storage. A mix of oil rubbed bronze and gold fixtures add to the warmth of the space.

The Tomar Court remodel was a whole home remodel focused on creating an open floor plan on the main level that is optimal for entertaining. By removing the walls separating the formal dining, formal living, kitchen and stair hallway, the main level was transformed into one spacious, open room. Throughout the main level, a custom white oak flooring was used. A three sided, double glass fireplace is the main feature in the new living room. The existing staircase was integrated into the kitchen island with a custom wall panel detail to match the kitchen cabinets. Off of the living room is the sun room with new floor to ceiling windows and all updated finishes. Tucked behind the sun room is a cozy hearth room. In the hearth room features a new gas fireplace insert, new stone, mitered edge limestone hearth, live edge black walnut mantle and a wood feature wall. Off of the kitchen, the mud room was refreshed with all new cabinetry, new tile floors, updated powder bath and a hidden pantry off of the kitchen. In the master suite, a new walk in closet was created and a feature wood wall for the bed headboard with floating shelves and bedside tables. In the master bath, a walk in tile shower , separate floating vanities and a free standing tub were added. In the lower level of the home, all flooring was added throughout and the lower level bath received all new cabinetry and a walk in tile shower. This home had a very small bathroom for the combined use of their teenagers and guests. The space was a tight 5'x7'. By adding just 2 feet by taking the space from the closet in an adjoining room, we were able to make this bathroom more functional and feel much more spacious. The show-stopper is the glass and metal mosaic wall tile above the vanity. The chevron tile in the shower niche complements the wall tile nicely, while having plenty of style on its own. To tie everything together, we continued the same tile from the shower all around the room to create a wainscot. The weathered-look hexagon floor tile is stylish yet subtle. We chose to use a heavily frosted door to keep the room feeling lighter and more spacious. Often when you have a lot of elements that can totally stand on their own, it can overwhelm a space. However, in this case everything complements the other. The style is fun and stylish for the every-day use of teenagers and young adults, while still being sophisticated enough for use by guests.

Complete renovation of an unfinished basement in a classic south Minneapolis stucco home. Truly a transformation of the existing footprint to create a finished lower level complete with family room, ¾ bath, guest bedroom, and laundry. The clients charged the construction and design team with maintaining the integrity of their 1914 bungalow while renovating their unfinished basement into a finished lower level.

Our clients in Evergreen Country Club in Elkhorn, Wis. were ready for an upgraded bathroom when they reached out to us. They loved the large shower but wanted a more modern look with tile and a few upgrades that reminded them of their travels in Europe, like a towel warmer. This bathroom was originally designed for wheelchair accessibility and the current homeowner kept some of those features like a 36″ wide opening to the shower and shower floor that is level with the bathroom flooring. We also installed grab bars in the shower and near the toilet to assist them as they age comfortably in their home. Our clients couldn’t be more thrilled with this project and their new master bathroom retreat.

A poky upstairs layout becomes a spacious master suite, complete with a Japanese soaking tub to warm up in the long, wet months of the Pacific Northwest. The master bath now contains a central space for the vanity, a “wet room” with shower and an "ofuro" soaking tub, and a private toilet room. Photos by Laurie Black
