The homeowner - an internationally acclaimed Winery Owner and Vintner, worked directly with our team to properly store their incredible wine collection of over 3500 bottles. With an unbelievable collection of First Growth Bordeaux s, Burgundy Domaine de la Romanee Conti s, Cult Napa Cabernets, and more, the homeowner wanted the utmost care and expertise in creating an environment perfectly designed to store and age their wines gracefully. The team at Vintage Cellars was able to work with the client intimately, talking through and understanding this unique collection of splits, 750’s, and large format bottles from the ground up, creating a completely custom wine racking system to perfectly meet all wants and needs. The wine racking is a mixture of custom unfinished black walnut cabinetry, coupled with a showstopping bronze racking showpiece viewable through the kitchen picture window. Many wine racks are backlit with LED lighting and fully illuminated panels to add extra pop. The cellar also features space for original wooden case storage, coved trays for both standard and magnum sized bottles, custom enclaves for larger bottles, and bread boards throughout for entertaining. The entire cellar is large enough to store the collection with room to grow - upwards of 250 square feet complete with two redundant whisperkool 4000 btu ceiling mount wine cellar cooling systems, and integrated humidification features. The housing detail is a very small “room” that was originally conceived as only a feature wall to provide definition for the front entry of the house. The other side of the wall was facing the lounge part of the dining room and proved to be ideal to accommodate the wine room rather than in the basement. The result is a beautiful display with very interesting features. The feature wall for the front entry was clad with vertically placed thinstone veneer producing a complete visual separation from the foyer to the rooms beyond. Glass walls, on the opposite side, completed the room for the wine and easy access is provided by using rolling glass doors, more typically used in shower systems. Stainless wine racks, a very impressive stemware chandelier and “cork” flooring are special features that make this a unique and one of a kind housing detail. Photo Credit: Metropolis

Custom made wine cellar handcrafted by Superior Woodcraft. This wine cellar is crafted from sapele wood, which received a no-voc hand wiped stain. Travertine floors grace this climate controlled area. Insulated french doors help to insure proper climate control.

A multi room space dedicated to the full wine experience. An ornamental iron gate welcomes guests through a rustic stone hallway with recessed niches and reclaimed brick arched ceiling. An ante room with Venetian plaster walls and mahogany T&G ceiling, perfect for wine decanting and hors d'oeuvres, is adjacent to the wine cellar of Cambara Mahogany wine racking and millwork with soapstone counter. A large octagonal tasting room featuring walls of New England Fieldstone and a mahogany T&G ceiling accentuated with mahogany beams. Stunning!

This gorgeous custom wine cellar acts as a dramatic entrypiece as you walk into this beautiful home in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, California. San Juan Capistrano is a lovely community located slightly inland, tucked within Orange County near cities like Newport Beach, Lake Forest, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, and Irvine. This fantastically designed wine cellar, courtesy of the master wine cellar builders at Vintage Cellars, is a unique representation of fun and bespoke features that can be incorporated into a traditional redwood, yet modern and bright wine cellar like this. The wine room draws you in from across the house, with its warm redwood tones and interesting wrought iron and glass door. Wine Cellar doors are often overlooked, but proper knowledge of door materials, glass specifications, threshold placement and hanging procedures are key to creating that perfect airtight room. Additionally, based on the location of your room within your home, the amount of glass in your wine cellar, and your location in the world, levels of cooling capacity need to be seriously considered.
