This family home in a Denver neighborhood started out as a dark, ranch home from the 1950’s. We changed the roof line, added windows, large doors, walnut beams, a built-in garden nook, a custom kitchen and a new entrance (among other things). The home didn’t grow dramatically square footage-wise. It grew in ways that really count: Light, air, connection to the outside and a connection to family living. This project is a beautiful example of stylish open plan living. Featuring tall cabinetry in Classic FF Carbon Grey paired with Advance Classic FF Merino on the base cabinets. The Silestone worktop in Dessert Silver has a suede finish with a 20mm shark-nose edging detail. The open shelving in Mountain Robina completes the contemporary monochrome look.

The new kitchen was designed with two center islands, one for food prep and cleanup, the other for gathering, snacking, homework, and all-around fun. Custom “Elemental White” painted cabinetry surrounds the two competing islands finished in a deep “Battleship” gray. White veined quartz countertops, built-in Thermador refrigeration, and cooking along with the amazing Ann Saks tile backsplash and beautiful Room & Board light fixture make this kitchen one of a kind.

This large room has three separate areas: the kitchen, breakfast nook, and family room. We wanted them all to be clearly defined and still flow well together. Using color as a common thread the large space now feels warm and welcoming. Brad Knipstein was the photographer.

Reworked Bauformat Kitchen in Findon Village, West Sussex We’re seeing more than ever before that our clients are seeking to incorporate open plan living into their homes. With older style properties built in a different era, significant building work must be undertaken to transform traditionally separated rooms into a free-flowing kitchen and dining space. The new-age, open plan style of living is what enticed these local clients into undertaking a vast renovation, which needless to say, undertook a vast number of trades, including our internal building work service which has been used to manipulate the existing space into the client’s vision. With a multi-functional design to fit the project brief, managing director Phil has created a fantastic design to fit the new space with additional functionality and visually appealing design inclusions. The Previous Kitchen The previous layout of the space was comprised of a separate kitchen and dining room space. To create the desired layout, the internal wall has been removed, with a door out to a conservatory blocked off and finished, alongside newly fitted French doors into a living room. Full plastering has been undertaken were necessary, with a boiler discretely integrated into a cupboard space, and new Honed Oyster Slate Karndean flooring fitted throughout the newly created space. Kitchen Furniture This furniture used for this project makes use of our newest kitchen supplier Bauformat. Bauformat are a German supplier known for their extensive choice and unique colourways, with the colours opted for playing a key part in this kitchen aesthetic. Another unique Bauformat inclusion in this kitchen is the inverted handleless rail system: CP35. The name of which comes from the 35° inverted integrated handle used to operate kitchen drawers and doors. To create bold contrast in this space two finishes have been used from the Porto S range, with both having used in the silky-matt finish that is again unique to a Bauformat kitchen. The Colourways Navy and Quartz Grey have been used and with the silky-matt finish of both doors, creating a theatrical looking space thanks to the richness of Navy units. The layout of this kitchen is simple, a U-shape run utilises most of the space, with a peninsula island creating casual dining space for three. A full height run of units is adjacent, which features the main bulk of appliances and pull-out pantry drawers for organised storage. Kitchen Appliances Matching the origin of the kitchen itself, German Neff appliances feature throughout this kitchen space. A superior specification of appliances has been used all-around to incorporate useful features unique to the Neff. In terms of cooking appliances, a Neff Slide & Hide oven and combination oven provide flexible cooking options alongside heaps of innovations that help to make cooking a simpler task. A Neff fridge-freezer is integrated seamlessly behind furniture doors for a seamless design, with useful features like Fresh Safe and Low Frost integrated to optimise food storage. A Neff Hob and built-in extractor feature in this kitchen, with a built-in extractor opted for to discretely fit within the theme of the wall units. Elsewhere, a Neff dishwasher is similarly integrated into Navy base units. Kitchen Accessories A major accessory of this kitchen is the tremendous work surfaces that features throughout the U-shape of the kitchen. These surfaces are from manufacturer Silestone and have been opted for in the neutral white Arabesque colourway. The worktops neatly complement and tie in the Navy and Quartz Grey furniture, whilst reflecting light around the room nicely. An accessory you can’t miss is the vibrant splashback provided by Southern Counties Glass. Again, this splashback complements the Navy furniture and provides a wipe-clean, easy-to-maintain surface. A Blanco 1.5 bowl composite sink has been included in the subtle Pearl Grey finish, with a chrome Sterling Nesso filtering tap fitted above. Lighting as always was a key consideration for this project. Pendant lights have been fitted in the kitchen and dining area, spotlights throughout the whole space and undercabinet lighting fitted beneath all wall units for ambient light. Plentiful storage has been well-placed throughout the space with extra-wide glass sided pan drawers adding vast storage and pull-out pantry storage fitted nicely within full-height units. Additional Bathroom Renovation In addition to the kitchen and dining area, these clients also opted for the renovation of a shower room at the same time, also designed by Phil. The space is maximised by placing the shower enclosure in the alcove of the room, with remaining space used for furniture, HiB illuminating mirror and W/C. The small amount of furniture is from supplier Saneux’s … range and features a … countertop basin and … tap. … Grey tiling has been used for most of the space in this room with reflective mosaic tilling used centrally in the shower enclosure as a neat design feature. … brassware has been used in the shower for dependability. Throughout the bathroom space, pipework has been boxed-in and tiled to keep the space looking unfussy and minimal. Our Kitchen & Bathroom Design & Fitting Services As projects go, there aren’t too many that eclipse this project in terms of the trades and services involved. For the kitchen and dining area internal building work has shaped the space for the kitchen to be fitted with flooring, electrics, lighting, plastering, and carpentry used to fit new French doors. For the bathroom space, full fitting, tiling, plumbing, lighting, and electrics have been used to give the space a fresh uplift. As part of a refurbishment of their 1930’s house, our clients wanted a bright, elegant contemporary kitchen to sit comfortably in a new modern rear extension. Older rooms in the property were also knocked through to create a large family room with living and dining areas and an entertaining space that includes a subterranean wine cellar and a bespoke cocktail cabinet. The slab-style soft-close kitchen door fronts are finished in matt lacquer in Alpine White for tall cabinetry, and Dust Grey for door and deep drawer fronts in the three-metre island, all with matching-coloured carcases. We designed the island to feature a recessed mirrored plinth and with LED strip lights at the base to provide a floating effect to the island when illuminated at night. To combine the two cabinetry colours, the extra-long worktop is comprised of two pieces of bookmatched 20mm thick Dekton, a proprietary blend of natural quartz stone, porcelain and glass in Aura, a white surface with a feint grey vein running through it. The surface of the island is split into two zones for food preparation and cooking. On the prep side is a one and half sized undermount sink and from the 1810 Company, together with an InSinkerator waste disposal unit and a Quooker Flex 3-in1 Boiling Water Tap. Installed within the island is a 60cm integrated dishwasher by Miele. On the cooking side is a flush-mounted 90cm Novy Panorama vented downdraft induction hob, which features a ventilation tower within the surface of the hob that rises up to 30cm to extract grease and cooking vapours at source, directly next to the pans. When cooking has ended, the tower retracts back into the surface to be completely concealed. Within the run of tall cabinetry are storage cupboards, plus and integrated larder fridge and tall freezer, both by Siemens. Housed at the centre is a bank of ovens, all by Neff. These comprise two 60cm Slide&Hide pyrolytic ovens, one beneath 45cm a CircoTherm Steam Oven and the other beneath a 45cm Combination Microwave. At the end of the run is a large breakfast cupboard with pocket doors that open fully to reveal interior shelving with LED lighting and a stylish grey mirror back panel. A further freestanding cocktail bar was designed for the open plan living space.

For all lovers of country style, we turn the hub of the home at @sundale_house, a 1920s home into a dream entertaining space that our client has dreamed about for so many years. When our client first moved into the property they only wanted to update the existing kitchen as they didn’t feel they needed to invest in a brand new kitchen at that time. Fast forward a few years later and we have completed the space with a handmade bespoke kitchen by PF. Each area is dedicated to something new and enticing and makes the kitchen a fun place to be. The home is full of all things hygge and the design is shown throughout cosy moments of comfort and appreciation being created in everyday life. The paint colours show this fabulously – Slaked Lime and Slaked Lime Dark both by Little Greene were chosen. We hand-painted the kitchen island in the dark colour of the two. Both colours are pure and neutral made with a combination of minerals to give a warm and soft appearance. Carefully considering the layout, an L-shape was best to take advantage of all walls and where an island could sit in the middle dividing the different zones of the living space. The space was also big enough for a separate bespoke unit that houses the Fisher & Paykel fridge freezer. When looking at the island in more detail this piece of furniture has been designed solely for a prep station. We are loving the frontage that is open with slated timber at the bottom. On the main kitchen run, we find not only a breakfast pantry but a dresser with plenty of bespoke storage for those items that are bulky for the main worktop. Both are built with bi-fold doors and integrated LED lighting, so each of the cabinets can be opened up into the space and closed away when not in use. In between these is the Steel Cucine Ascot Range Cooker in stainless steel with a stunning bespoke mantle positioned above and a hand-silvered antiqued mirror splashback. Taking our attention to other parts of the design, we find a beautiful sink area located underneath a window featuring a Shaws’ sink and Perrin & Rowe taps. There’s also plenty of alternative storage such as wooden open shelves, a hidden wine rack and convenient pull-out drawers. As the client stated… “styling and turning our 1920s house into our perfect family home.”
