LLI DesignIt was important to make this room warm, welcoming and cosy especially as it had been so under used in the past. The palette was kept to oranges, taupes and greys, together with a walnut floor. This progresses harmoniously from the open plan area adjacent to it. A sizeable and comfy L shaped sofa along with an orange accent Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair and a large textured rug were specified. An oversized classic arc lamp finishes the space.
A full width, bespoke lacquer wall hung unit was specified, under lit with a warm hum of LED. The 65” TV was set flush into a bespoke stud partition, so, although large it didn’t dominate the room.

Niche InteriorsThe media room features a wool sectional and a pair of vintage Milo Baughman armchairs reupholstered in a snappy green velvet. All upholstered items were made with natural latex cushions wrapped in organic wool in order to eliminate harmful chemicals for our eco and health conscious clients (who were passionate about green interior design). An oversized table functions as a desk or a serving table when our clients entertain large parties.

LUX Design | Interior Design BuildLUX Design renovated this living room in Toronto into a dramatic and modern retreat. Complete with a white fireplace created from Callacutta marble able to house a 60" tv with a gas fireplae below this living room makes a statement. Grey built-in lower cabinets with dark walnut wood shelves backed by an antique mirror ad depth to the room and allow for display of interesting accessories and finds. The white coffered ceiling beautifully accents the dark blue / teal tufted couch and a black and white herringbone rug ads a pop of excitement and personality to the space. Our goal was to create interiors that reflected the coastal colors and serene setting that surrounds the home in a relaxed yet elegant style. Oversized slipcovered furniture in crisp white provide comfort and practicality. The slipcovers are easily cleaned and the down seating envelops you. Natural wicker chairs and washed wood end tables keeps the room from looking too formal. A silk blend rug in soft blue mixed with accent pillows in blues and aquas inspired by the colors of the sea. “This project succeeds not only in creating beautiful architecture, but in making us better understand the nature of the site and context. It has a presence that feels completely rooted in its site and raised above any appeal to fashion. It clarifies local traditions while extending them.”
This single-family residential estate in Upstate New York includes a farmhouse-inspired residence along with a timber-framed barn and attached greenhouse adjacent to an enclosed garden area and surrounded by an orchard. The ultimate goal was to create a home that would have an authentic presence in the surrounding agricultural landscape and strong visual and physical connections to the site. The design incorporated an existing colonial residence, resituated on the site and preserved along with contemporary additions on three sides. The resulting home strikes a perfect balance between traditional farmhouse architecture and sophisticated contemporary living.
Inspiration came from the hilltop site and mountain views, the existing colonial residence, and the traditional forms of New England farm and barn architecture. The house and barn were designed to be a modern interpretation of classic forms.
The living room and kitchen are combined in a large two-story space. Large windows on three sides of the room and at both first and second floor levels reveal a panoramic view of the surrounding farmland and flood the space with daylight. Marvin Windows helped create this unique space as well as the airy glass galleries that connect the three main areas of the home. Marvin Windows were also used in the barn.
