Marielisa Muller is a young creative who splits her time between graphic design, sculpture, photography and ceramics. The latter became a passion of hers from the moment when she first entered a ceramics shop, athe age of nine, and was instantly enthralled. The Magic Mushrooms Collection takes inspiration from a life form which has fascinated Marielisa for many years and which she believes - along with many mycologists - have fantastic and virtually untapped potential.
Marielisa Muller finds both inspiration and refuge in nature - a welcome escape from the chaos of the modern world and source for much of her work. In this piece Marielisa looks to the famous 'magic' mushroom; the soft curves of its fleshy body evoking sensual semi-human forms. Being a flower itself, there is a poetic aspect to using a mushroom as a vase - a symbol of plenty, fecundity but also danger and death. The piece is handcrafted from ceramic and detailed in enamel paint.
