Who: Francesca Morgan of Francesca Morgan Interiors
Where: Stuart, Florida
In her own words: “Every job is different, but I always leave thinking, ‘I want to live there.’ ”
Your home should celebrate who you are and what you love. And if you live in a spectacular setting, your home should celebrate that as well. Early immersion. Morgan got her start working in her family’s textile business in Miami. “Instead of going to play, we had to go to work,” she says. Morgan not only got an intensive education in textiles and fabrics, she also gained extensive knowledge of art, style and design as she worked with clients both locally and internationally. “I thank my parents every day for the knowledge and work ethic they instilled in me,” she says.
Mixing old and new. Morgan crafts every job to suit what her clients need and how they live. She also focuses on combining the pieces her clients already own and treasure with new items that will revitalize their space. “Your home should show who you are, how you live and where you’ve been,” Morgan says.

1. Find Inspiration in What You Own
Incorporate pieces you already own and love that reflect your life. When these Sailfish Point homeowners asked Morgan to help them redesign their waterfront condo, they already had pieces that spoke to their love of the ocean. “They had always lived on the coast or on an island,” Morgan says.
She took her design inspiration from the artwork and furnishings the couple owned as well as the condo’s location overlooking the water. She opened up the kitchen to the view outside, added custom pieces designed with shells and sand that play up the shell-embossed mirror in the primary bathroom and created a “captain’s room” that pays tribute to the homeowner’s father. Morgan wrapped it all in a beachy color palette. “It’s light and airy and a breath of fresh air,” she says.

2. Bring Your Dream to Life
Start your design with the elements you love. “Every detail of this Sewall’s Point home was fine-tuned to the client’s imagined dream home,” Morgan says.
The designer gutted the home to create a space for both large family gatherings and day-to-day life. The kitchen anchors the living space, looking out to the living and dining areas as well as the water view. Two islands, a practical work triangle and a large pantry combine function and good looks.
The living area is generously sized but still fosters a sense of togetherness. “Everything they want to do is in separate areas within the space so they’re all still together,” Morgan says. She finished the space in shades of blue and complementary colors, with custom finishes, wallpaper and window treatments to give the homeowners the coastal vibe they wanted.

3. Cultivate Your Personal Style
Blend elements that reflect your roots with those that reference where you’re living. “These homeowners wanted their new home in Stuart to combine traditional elements from their Connecticut roots with the coastal flair of South Florida,” Morgan says.
She set the tone for the home in the entry, starting with the unexpected twist of arabesque-style Carrara floor tiles outlined in dark wood. There’s a nod to Connecticut in the domed ceiling and chandelier, dark furniture and pieces of the homeowners’ collection of Chinese pottery. “It’s classic and elegant and will never go out of style,” Morgan said. Plants and paintings add the tropical feel of South Florida.
