Kim Smart of Smart Interiors has helped us in so many ways. She is very organized, always on time, returns calls and texts promptly, offers tips not even related to the project she is woking on and is very helpful dealing with contractors and technicians. Kim has shopped with us for carpet, slate, hardware for our bathroom and more. I feel very lucky to have found Smart Interiors when we first moved to San Diego. I will definitely reach out to her for future projects.

Every once in a while you come across a professional who is worth their weight in gold. Kim Smart is one of those people. Kim has guided me through two remodels and a number of other projects over the course of the last 15 years. As you would expect, Kim has a true gift for design. Everything has turned out beautifully --- the first remodel resulted in an article in the San Diego Union Tribune showcasing her work! But over the years I've learned there's more to a great interior designer than great designs. First, Kim designs according to each client's personal style. Kim does not do cookie cutter. To me that's the hallmark of a real pro -- she creates a unique design for each client in their own unique taste! Second, Kim saved me so much money on these projects that the net expense of her services was extremely reasonable. Kim kept me from making expensive mistakes, recommended cost-effective alternatives, and even secured preferred vendor pricing. Third, Kim is a top-notch time manager. You can set your watch by Kim. She is always on time, whether it's a meeting, a phone call or a deliverable. Emails get answered fast and actions items are swiftly executed. Update: I emailed Kim this morning asking for her opinion on an attractive $6,000 door for my latest project. She replied within an hour recommending a beautiful $1,500 door which would be a better choice at both an aesthetic and practical level. See what I mean?

We hired Kim to design our 7 bedroom home after the drywall contractor had finished his contract. The house was empty and the architect gave us little direction as to how the house should be completed. The amount of work ahead of us seemed daunting but Kim stayed with us each step of the way to help make sure we ended up with the house we were hoping for. Her knowledge and experience in addition to her attentiveness to our requests made our experience a lot easier. We were originally thinking of designing the house to look like all the old fashioned Tuscan homes built in the 80’s, but Kim convinced us to change the look of our house to a more light and transitional look, and we are so happy we accepted her advice. After taking our initial input, Kim started by showing us a layout for each room in our house and overall theme colors. She joined us on multiple trips to tile stores, flooring stores, and fabric stores to help us create a unique look for each of our rooms. She even designed the furniture cabinets in our living room that truly elevated the look of the entry to the house. Once the construction of the house was completed, Kim helped us choose all of our furniture, bed coverings and window treatments and made an effort to tailor each bedroom for each of our kids. She then helped us with art and display items to put the final touch on her work. Throughout the process Kim was willing to change direction on the occasions when we had to ask her to go for more budget conscious options. We are truly relieved now that the house is finally finished and we don’t know what we would have done without Kim’s guidance. Our house is comfortable but also feels like a resort. Thank you Kim! Kim is fabulous! This is the second time I have used her services. The recent project was a townhouse refresh (paint, carpet, lighting fixtures, cabinet hardware). She has a keen eye for color, decor and detail that will fit the vibe and architecture of a property. Her fees are very reasonable, and her expertise helped me get things done right the first time which is a money saver. She does not waste time and is very responsive with communications. I appreciated her recommending a painter and other resource people for other work, they are always excellent. Hiring Kim is a wise investment for your home. Thanks Kim!!!

Kim Smart did an amazing job decorating my new home. I wanted a high end look; but, had a "regular" budget. Kim taught me so much about design and "trusting the process." I was always overwhelmed with so many choices weather it was buying a new rug, art work, an entry piece or nightstands. Kim was able to understand what I wanted and was able to make it happen. Kim is magic. She elevated every room incorporating some current furniture and many new pieces. She made it fun and the end result is simply stunning. Every day I look around and am so appreciative of her thoughtfulness and effort. Everyone who comes into my home is in awe of how beautiful it is. If Kim has the time for you, grab her. You will be happy you did and wished you had hired her years ago.

I absolutely love working with Kim Smart for my home interior remodel and furnishing! She's efficient, effective, technically knowledgable, and super responsible. Her recommendations are on point. She knows the finishing touches that really make a home look premium for little to no extra cost. I felt more confident with all the design decisions we had to make which included redoing countertops, repainting walls and cabinets, redoing master bath, and reflooring. Also in addition to her design services, she's also a great project manager. She recommended really great contractors to do all the work and scheduled them for us and gave them the project briefing. She also stopped by the house to make sure all work was going as planned and was there to recommend point out issues and recommend solutions (like what color grout to use). Some times contractors will recommend an easy fix - not the best aesthetic design. That's why it's great to have Kim by your side to help you navigate the remodel! Kim Smart is a smart choice for your home remodeling or home furnishing. My only regret was not trusting in her sooner and leaning on her more at the beginning of my remodeling journey.

Kim was wonderful to work with. We moved to our new home in Rancho Santa Fe last year and needed all new furniture. Kim was able to help us settle on an aesthetic that blended our personalities, styles, and tastes. We absolutely love our new home and couldn’t have done it without Kim’s help!

We moved to a new home in Poway in 2016 and as we settled in we realized none of our furniture fit comfortably or aesthetically in our new home. It became apparent we needed a new look to fit this home in the country. We needed help!! We found Kim Smart of Smart Interiors and Kim helped us find our new 'look'. We went room by room and applied the same color scheme, renovating fireplaces, cabinets and bathrooms to define our new look. Not only are we thrilled with the results but we learned SO much from Kim. She gave each and every room an 'Oh Wow' factor we could not have achieved on our own. As recently as last weekend someone came into our home and said it looked like it was out of a magazine! If you need design 'help' we highly recommend you turn to Kim Smart! Kim Smart is simply outstanding!! She is professional, responsive, conscientious and truly listened to what I wanted to accomplish for my home. Her vision is creative, logical, and extremely tasteful. She suggested choices and helped me move through the decision process so I was comfortable. Kim's work ethic is superb! She is attentive to emails and phone calls and responds promptly which is incredibly important in this industry. When she says she's going to send me ideas, she does so quickly but thoughtfully with attention to what I've told her my taste is, and I'm not following up with her but rather she is following up with me.
