After debating for months over where to purchase our plantation shutters from, a sense of bravery led me to plump for the 'DIY' version offered by The Shutter Store. Although the initial hook was the price differential over other companies (circa half the price in some cases), the more I read about the quality of the product and the ease of the process, the more it became a 'no-brainer' to order from The Shutter Store. The ordering process is explained in detail on the website (worth printing all the guides and watching the video clips where the delightful Sarah Beeny demonstrates how simple installation is), and as long as you've got a tape measure and a pen & paper, you're good to go. Our installation was complicated by a fixed pelmet above the window, but after speaking to the brilliant Vicky and sending her some photos of our setup, she advised on the best course of action. The installation itself was about as straightforward as it gets, even for a DIY novice. You fit the frame together, and once you have drilled this into place in your window frame, fitting the actual shutter doors is a breeze. Admittedly it would all be a whole lot simpler if you have some assistance to hold things in place etc, but even working alone I had the whole thing finished within a couple of hours. The results have transformed our room, and having the ability to open or close individual shutter doors depending on the position of the sun is a luxury that everybody should enjoy! We have had loads of positive comments on how good they look, with my builder asking why I needed him to work on my extension when I was capable of handiwork like that - testimony to the quality and ease of installation of the shutters. Will definitely be back for more for our bedroom in due course! Thank you!

I just had a large bay window fitted with shutters from the shutter store and feel like it was the BEST design decision I ever made for the room. We live in a basement flat, my initial worries were that shutters would block light, but it's done the exact opposite. They're beautifully crafted and allow light to pour through whilst giving the privacy needed on a fairly main road. I can't recommend the Shutter Store highly enough. From start to finish they made the whole process of measuring, ordering and installing shutters so easy. They're DIY installation too. Amazing. I want more shutters around the flat now :)
