Luther designed for us a second-floor bedroom suite extension above an existing den and service areas. Our house is an Arlington colonial from 1948, but we wanted to add a modern looking structure. Luther's design tastefully blended its front with the vernacular of the street and fully expressed its modern look on the side and the back of the house. He successfully captured our vision from the first 3-D rendition we saw, and then worked diligently on every single detail, specification and material, and offered options. He was always very responsive over e-mail and in person, and stepped in as our architect advocate when the contractor we hired failed to follow the plans on multiple occasions and had to do a number of reworks. Luther insisted they corrected all the mistakes and assisted us over the entire duration of the project. We trusted his professional judgement and advice, and his temperament and love for, as well as experience with, modern architecture made him a pleasure to work with.

Mr. Weber's drawings were spot on for the renovation of our basement.....it looks gorgeous. He was always available for questions. He is a professional and I would recommend him without hesitation.

Luther was the project architect on my home designed by Hugh Newell Jacobsen. Luther was so competent at orchestrating all issues that arose during the 30 month construction period. I met with Luther Weber to work out a plan for updating my 1950s two-story colonial in Alexandria. I wanted to keep the house’s charm intact but needed more modern finishes. Luther listened well and formulated a plan, staying within my budget to renovate the old into the new. We attacked all three levels of my house, basement through the second floor. There were some serious challenges in carving out space for a master bedroom with on suite, extending the kitchen an additional 10 feet, and allowing more light into a basement that was like a rabbit’s warren. Today, I am delighted with my bright, open floor plan and the contemporary design of my now elegant home on all three levels. I am happy to recommend Luther if you have a renovation dream.

We would highly recommend Luther Weber. We have engaged him twice. We are planning to remodel our 30 year kitchen and construct an addition to add space laundry/office. We had a number of false starts over the years with both another architect and design-build firms who seemed to have their own ideas but not listen well to how we wanted to use our space. The result was designs that did not meet our needs or budget. Luther has a gift for listening and hearing. He asks great questions and has creative solutions to difficult challenges. He gave us a plan that we are very excited about. It is both beautiful and functional and reflects how we live and want to use our space, while keeping in mind budget constraints. On a basement remodel project several years ago, Luther came up with an ingenious solution to placing an egress window in a way that brings light to the entire space while retaining our ability to meet code for the bedroom there. Because he knew the code and has a creative mind, he was able to come up with a solution that we would never have thought up - we have loved that space ever since. And it was a very cost-effective solution that allowed us to retain the flexibility to put on the addition at a later time. Luther is a joy to work with and we plan to work with him in the future.

A common friend referred me to Luther Weber when I needed an architect to help me renovate the limited floor space of my 1920 bungalow so that it fit my lifestyle. Luther helped me sort the "must do" from the "nice to have but not in budget," alerted me to potential challenges to gaining approval from the county, and found an excellent general contractor. When we started the project I lacked the vocabulary to concisely describe what I wanted; Luther was patient and willing to offer and then work through options. By the time I'd researched and zeroed in on the design period and style that I wanted, it felt like we were a team. With just a 10'x20' addition, we converted a full basement with a 6' ceiling and three leaking walls into a guest suite with code-compliant egress, a full bath, wet bar, and lots of storage. I couldn't be happier with the result.

Luther Weber has renovated our house in Georgetown 2 times. The first was in 2003 and the second just finished in June of 2016. In both cases there was serious structure work done and involved working within historical guidelines. This was no small trick to make the interior of a 1929 Tudor house "light and airy and full of modern conveniences" while keeping the original integrity of the building. Luther did a fabulous job both times. He has the best personality blended with a lot of smarts and experience AND he is very responsive and proactive. On both jobs the contractor and workmen told me they enjoyed working with him very much...and these were seasoned guys. His fees were reasonable and when he presented plans they were exactly what we wanted. Luther also has extremely good taste which helped the decision making process...when in double we would lean towards his advice and we were always pleased. It is easy to recommend Luther to anyone looking for an architect!

We had the good fortune of working with Luther Weber on a major renovation of our North Arlington home starting in 2005. At the time, Luther had just started his own practice after working as Chief of Staff with a nationally acclaimed Architect for more than a decade. We consider ourselves fortunate to have been amongst his early, personal clients. Our home at the time was almost 30 years old and was beginning to have major materiel problems. We wanted better use of space and a design we could retire in. Luther worked with us closely for most of a year on the plans. We wanted contemporary but not cold. Our lot was also a challenge: narrow and deep with a huge silver maple in the back that had to be worked in to the plan. We knew what we wanted but had no idea how to translate that into physical form. We wanted open interiors and lots of light. Luther listened and translated, re-worked and sparked new ideas in a process that continued through each phase of the project. Luther worked closely with our builder during demolition and construction. He visited the site almost daily, insuring plans were being properly implemented and that the tradesmen shared his meticulous attention to detail. We had never worked with an architect before, and were impressed by Luther’s depth and breadth of expertise in seemingly unrelated technical disciplines. When he didn’t have an appropriate solution for questions or problems that arose during construction he would research available options until we were all comfortable with a solution that we could afford. We are not students of Feng Shui but Luther must be because our home is now a beautiful refuge from the pressures of city dwelling. The living spaces are warm and inviting, and comfortably proportioned. The outside has been brought inside with window walls and a Southern exposure. Visitors routinely comment on how peaceful and calm our home seems. We attribute this to Luther’s creation of the open livable light-filled space we had hoped for. Now 6+ years on from this major project not a day goes by that one of us doesn’t say to the other, “We love our house”, and thank Luther for making the reality of living here better than our dream.
