We moved into my parents house that had not been updated since 1969. The project was very overwhelming for me. I had never remodeled an entire house. Chris was very helpful and came up with many creative options to choose from. Her vast knowledge and experience with this project made it so much easier. Rick and Chris make a great time, They are knowledgeable and willing to workwithin your budget. We are very happy we decided on Cypress Builders.

Rick, from Cypress Builders in Palatine, Illinois, proved to be an invaluable resource for a whole host of design problems and issues during our new construction "green" build that utilized German Passive House principles. After firing our two GC’s, he was kind enough to take on the role of building consultant: Every couple of weeks I would come up with a list of questions, and he would stop by the job site to run through answers and possible solutions --- everything from structural issues, building science details, to more conventional design problems. To his credit, the level of detail involved in a Passive House build didn’t scare him off — it did for many of the other GC’s, carpenters, and siding companies I had out to the job site for estimates. Rick was incredibly generous with his time, knowledge, and experience — it’s no overstatement to say it’s doubtful we would’ve completed our build without him. His decades in the building industry allowed him to offer sage advice, and I always ended up calmer and more confident about completing the next stage of the build after each of his site visits. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in the Chicago suburbs who is looking to build new or remodel an existing home --- the mix of experience, honesty, and excellent communication skills is hard to find.

We hired Cypress Builders to build a sun room where our patio was, create a master suite above the garage, and then make a guest br/office and laundry room in the original master br space, plus add onto the front porch. It was a big project and I am a work-at-home mom, so the kids and I were usually home while they were working. By the time the job was finished, Rick and his crew felt like family. They were so kind and friendly to us, the kids and the dog. They were mindful of the fact that we were raising a young family in the midst of the chaos of construction and made sure work spaces were boarded up or kid-safe each night. I felt safe and comfortable with them in the house, which was really important for us. They are a small company, so a huge crew didn't swarm in and finish the job in a blink. Rick and his crew took the time to listen to what we wanted, made suggestions and explained why something would or would not work, took pride in their jobs and even answered all my kids' questions about what they were doing. The new spaces look great and we have gotten many compliments. We have and will continue to recommend Cypress to others.

Very impressed with Cypress Builders! They helped us convert a laundry room into a mudroom with four cubbies and a new sink. Chris was excellent in the bidding stage, coming up with several designs and helping us narrow down to exactly what we wanted. We received three bids and they were right in the middle. Once the work started, Rick and his partner were extremely efficient and willing to work with us at every step to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. Final project came in right on budget and finished in less time than we all expected. Final product was even better than we hoped and everyone loves the new room! Cypress is highly recommended and we will certainly turn to them for all future remodeling needs!

I have hired this provider no less than four times for major renovations to the smallest of renovations. The largest involved a conversion of a back garage to my current family room creation of loft and second floor laundry room as well as a complete bathroom where there was none before. Rick did all the exterior and interior work to redesign the exterior of my house, create a foyer space and interior arches, beams and beautiful wood work. We redesigned an interior bathroom and space to create a desk area for me as well. The latest project was a complete redo of my master bath. Words such as integrity, promptness, care and detail come to mind. Problem solving, calm, fair and insightful. Reasonably priced even when I changed mid project. We have worked together over a span of almost 10 years and I recommend him with no hesitation. Rick has done both interior and exterior work as well as structural changes that involved adding load bearing floors and completely reworking the plumbing and electric work.

Cypress Builders did an incredible job with our mudroom and family room renovations. Rick and Chris clearly communicated what we should expect and what the process would look like. They were friendly and professional, and they exceeded our expectations in every way. They always delivered on time and within budget, and although I was on hospital bedrest during most of the construction, they went the extra mile to make sure I was involved in the process. I would absolutely recommend them for your home renovation project, and would be honored to work with them on another construction project should the need arise.

We used Cypress about 8 years ago for a kitchen remodel & general facelift for our home: windows, sing & driveway. There work was quality and we ended up within $1000 of the proposal—excellent for such a big job.
