I can not say enough good things about Barts Remodeling. We hired Bart to do a gut rehab of our bathroom. Every person on Bart's team was professional, responsive, and highly skilled. The work was done beautifully and at lightening speed. I always at least double in my mind the amount of time it will take to complete a project, but they had it done in less than 3 weeks as promised. We were very particular about the details and they worked with us to find a solution to everything we didn't like and even redid some parts to make them perfect for us. The workmanship is all excellent. We love our new bathroom. I would hire Bart again for any size job. So highly recommend.

Bart is an excellent communicator, employs true craftsmen and stands behind his word. He personally came out to quote my job and stuck to the quote he gave me. He estimated the start date to be the "end of January/beginning of February"; they started the project on Jan 31st. He predicted the project to last 3-4 months and finished on time in mid-May. He was spot on with the allowances he gave me in his quote (cabinets/counters/etc.); he is knowledgeable and professional. When a decision needed to be made about a change to the plan (this will happen in any project, expect it), Bart personally met me on sight to explain the problem and go over the options. He was able to accommodate my "add ons" (also part of the process). His crew is made up of "craftsmen" who did the job right the first time, delivering me a kitchen that is better than I imagined. Amazing experience!! We contacted Bart's Remodeling for ideas on a Master Bath remodel. This master bath is on a Cape Cod second floor with limited floor and ceiling heights. First visit, Bart provided very positive ideas, within a short amount of time a floor plan with elevations, and photos of materials. We were very pleased with the feedback and presentation. We had previously used Barts Remodeling to renovate our basement at our old home. We moved from that home last Summer and purchased a new home that needed some cosmetic work. We immediately reached out to Bart to help with our bathroom remodel / expansion. Our bathroom was previously TINY and could barely fit a pedestal sink and toilet. We had his team knock down a wall to expand into a hallway closet and completely move all plumbing to expand space and add a double sink. I am ECSTATIC with the results. Alex was our project manager and was super helpful - workers were great too. Loving our new space and can't wait to reach back out when were ready for our next project. Bart's team is top notch. We interviewed several companies for three remodeling projects we wanted done, and we have no regrets that we selected Bart's. Their price was fair and they stayed within budget for rough materials and labor. As with any remodeling project in a 100-year-old building, some surprises arose and Bart's team efficiently addressed them. The three projects Bart's did for us was building a full bathroom in our basement, remodeling another full bathroom, and redoing our kitchen. With guidance from the designer on Bart's team, we were able to transform our outdated spaces into more functional and beautiful ones. Rare is the project without problems, and ours was no exception. What we really appreciated about Bart's is how they addressed issues that came up during our remodel (most due to problems with or oversights by suppliers or vendors). We were able to work with Bart and his team to find solutions that worked for us and left us happy with the final results and process. We recently just completed the process of renovating our kitchen and adding a bathroom where we previously had a small room with Bart and his team. Barts team is absolutely great to work with and the kitchen and bathroom look absolutely amazing. We had decided to do this major renovation in the middle of having our first baby. The first thing that Bart did when we first met was let me know that, while it is a lot of work, it is work they do every day and not overly complicated. From that moment on, I felt extremely comfortable with Bart. (We had other quotes come in from some other contractors where they pitched us on how much work there was and how big the project was and then pitched a price double the price Bart charged). Bart made me feel comfortable from the start and was extremely fairly priced. When the work began, his team worked extremely hard and efficiently. They were on the job site first thing in the morning and worked throughout the day. We never were left wondering "what is going on" because we were frequently kept up to speed what the working going on. Alex who managed the project was always easy to communicate with and helpful when questions came up. When we had issues with something in the house they weren't contracted to fix (appliances), the team was very helpful in trying to get it fixed even when it wasn't something we contracted them to do. This was our first renovation and came during the craziest time for us with a new baby. Barts team made the process extremely painless and created a kitchen and bathroom we absolutely love. In the interest of fairness, Bart is a friend and a past work coleague of mine. When I purchased my own condo last year I knew I was going to remodel the entire place myself. Being a DIY kind of person, I never intended to hire the services of a professional to complete the project, but I asked Bart to stop by to help me with the planning and pick his brain for design ideas. We talked about what I wanted to accomplish and discussed ways to get there. Bart gave me lots of great advice and helped refine my vision from the very get-go. Most importantly, we remained in contact throughout the entire course of the project exchanging photos, messages, and phone calls. I've lost count of all of the times that I've asked Bart for clarification or suggestions over the last 9 months, and he's contiinued to help me to make the right design choices, making sure I'm using the correct materials, and gave me clarification on proper techniques, etc. It was a huge benefit to have someone experienced and knowledgable there to guide me. My husband and I hired Bart to do a full gut rehab on our home. He and his team took our outdated Chicago two flat and turned it into a beautiful, modern single family home. Bart is very communicative, knowledgeable, and straightforward. He was also very willing to share advice he pulled from experience on past projects. From the demo crew to the team working on finishing touches, his guys showed up on time every day. They were respectful, tidy, and we are incredibly happy with the final result. There will always be things that pop up during construction, but Bart was readily available to discuss solutions or alternatives and then put his team to action right away. We hired Bart’s Remodeling to refinish our huge basement. It was a gut job due to previous water damage. They did a beautiful job creating additional functional living space in our home with tons of storage and a magazine worthy bathroom. Barts did a great job for us. We had a basement over 100 years old. Using his resources and vision they created a design that I never thought possible. They worked with us through every phase of construction, and performed flawlessly. People that visit us now ask for their information. I grew up in construction, and this crew are craftsman. Bart and his team were referred to us by our daughter. They worked on our kitchen, replaced countertops, added backsplash, new floor for the entire first floor. They also added lights and a fan to our family room. The entire work was done on time, and within the projected budget. My wife and I were very pleased with their work. We hired Bart to remodel our master bathroom which was a complete gut job in a very old building. Like many, we looked at online reviews to determine which contractor to hire. Every other contractor we contacted gave us a very expensive price estimate without even coming onsite to evaluate the job that needed to be done. Bart however, came onsite himself to evaluate the project space and was very candid about his price/what would be required. His prices are very fair and his quotes are extremely detailed which made us feel comfortable moving forward since everything was directly outlined. After meeting with him it was a no-brainer that we wanted to give him our business. He was able to quickly work out all the details and get our project scheduled right away. The project managers were very tentative/responsive and answered all my detailed questions /texts/calls/ requests with details, care, and in a timely manner. After our first contractor delayed our project by three months just days before it was scheduled to start, we were stuck scrambling to find another option when I stumbled across Bart’s Remodeling, in large part based on the reviews I read on this site. We hired Bart to remodel every inch of a ~2200 four story town home and could not recommend him strongly enough. Bart was very prompt and professional throughout the process, from the start when he showed up on time to walk the space and understand the scope, to the professional packet of information including all contractor licenses he provided day one, to the timely and line-by-line detailed quote he provided, to throughout the construction process and even following up with a phone call several weeks after the completion to ensure we were happy with the final product. One of my biggest concerns when interviewing contractors was communication throughout the project. Bart was always timely in responding to texts and emails and handled any unforeseen issues professionally and fairly. Bart’s project manager, Alex, was helpful in coordinating a number of the details throughout the project and was always timely in his communication. Perhaps most importantly, Bart’s contractors were very detail-oriented, respectful and took pride in the quality of their work. In short, I would highly recommend Bart’s Remodeling and look forward to working with Bart again on future projects.

I hired Barts Remodeling to add a bathroom to my home in what was previously an office space. I would highly recommend this contractor based on my experience. Bart came out to do the initial walk through visit and then provided a prompt estimate for the job. The estimate was fair and lower than the other contractors I had contacted. After an initial meeting to discuss the scope of the work, Alex was assigned as my project manager. Alex was professional and responsive throughout the entire project. The tradesmen that worked on the project were skilled and did a nice job. I now have a good looking addition to my home, thanks to this quality team!

If I could give even more Stars than 5 I would. From the very first time we met Bart the owner we were very impressed with his plan, values and professionalism. We contracted to have our unfinished basement totally finished. Bart put together a wonderful plan and was so willing to listen to our ideas as well. Through out the process of the remodel ALL of the contractors, did a professional job and were very pleasant to work with. They were there everyday working( no messing around). Mark the project manager was a delight to work with. Each step of the project, from plumbing ,wiring, studding, insulation, dry wall, painting, lighting were all done with Professional contractors. Today we have a beautiful basement with a new bathroom, closets and to very spacious rooms, with a laundry area. The price was very reasonable. We also contracted Bart to put in all new doors, and hardwood floors throughout the first floor of our home. This was again done Beautifully with professional contractors. I can say without a doubt this is the Best Contractor we ever worked with, and plan more projects with Bart in the future. Would highly recommend Bart and his Team. Expanded existing powder room to add a full sized shower to create a 2nd full bath on main floor of our raised ranch. Work included the removal of a seldom used interior stair to the basement and removal of interior wall. A new closet was created in the basement where the stair was located. New access to the attic was also added. Extensive tile work was done on the expanded bathroom walls along with the floor. Plumbing, painting, and electrical work was also included. The finished product is beautiful. Very happy with the results. This is the second time that we have used Bart. Our original comment still stand: if you want a quality job at a fair price along with courteous and dependable service, then Bart is your guy. The work was completed more quickly than I expected and all of the crew were very dependable and considerate. They were also very respectful in keeping the construction site as clean as possible. Bart is very responsive to any and all questions. He answers both his emails and phone messages in a very timely fashion. When a few issues came up (as is normal), he always worked with us to resolve them. He is very committed to getting things right and really cares about doing a quality job. It’s rare to find someone that is so trustworthy. Absolutely would work with Bart again and highly recommend him.

Bart remodeled both of our bathrooms a few years ago, so when the time came to finish our basement, we were very happy he was available for this project too. We could not be happier with the results! The basement is comfortable, functional and seems to have been always part of our living space. Bart worked with us to install a new staircase from the kitchen to the basement that efficiently used the area, (prior access had only been from the mudroom at the back), and to put a large bedroom, a playroom/family room, a bathroom and a mechanical room downstairs, which includes generous storage. They installed a Murphy Bed for us too, which was a nice touch. In addition to the quality of work, we appreciated Bart himself stopping by to check on progress and the ease of communication via text, phone or email. If there ever was a delay with permits, inclement weather, we oftentimes heard from Bart directly which was very nice. We will certainly use Barts Remodeling in the future, he has our highest recommendation!

When I decided to remodel my outdated master bathroom by creating a walk-in shower to replace a tub that I hated climbing over every day to take a shower, I relied on a referral from a friend of Bart's who worked for another company and who had done excellent work for me in the past. That decision to hire Barts Remodeling for my project could not have been a better one. Bart has a team of contractors who worked well with each other to keep the project going on schedule. All of the workers were very courteous and demonstrated extreme professionalism, expertise and care in their work on the project. Everything was completed perfectly with a high degree of quality workmanship. The lead contractor on the job always kept me involved by asking questions so that things would be exactly as I wanted. I now indulge myself everyday in the luxury of the bathroom of my dreams. I have had experiences with several contractors in the past but none that I could recommend as highly as this one.

Barts Remodeling did an amazing job on our kitchen. This was a major overhaul including knocking down walls, adding headers, and completely gutting and reconfiguring our existing kitchen. What I love about Bart is his attention to detail. He's what I would consider a perfectionist which is a great quality to have in a contractor. I never felt the need to micromanage his crew and always felt confident they would do exactly what they said they would to Bart's exacting standards. And if they didn't, Bart would make it right. This was the first major home project that we hired out for and I'm so glad we chose Bart. He definitely puts the customer first. For example, during the final walk- through I showed him how a cabinet door got deeply scratched when his guys were installing and adjusting a pull out feature. Before he left he had a new door on order. Also, Andy, his sort of "foreman", was great to work with, went out of his way to add nice finishing touches to our job and was great with our pit bull. She LOVED to see Andy show up in the morning! Price wise, Bart and our other top three contractors were within about 10% of each other on price. So price wasn't a huge deciding factor. I just had a good feeling about Bart. He seemed like he would do whatever it took to do the best work possible with as little stress to us as possible. And he did! A few of my neighbors have already asked for his contact info because his crew was so respectful and polite and they noticed how the crew was here consistently throughout the project getting things done. I would highly recommend Bart and look forward to hiring him for our next major project.

We could not be happier with the gut rehab of our kitchen and master bathroom. Bart and his team did a fantastic job. The two men who did the bulk of the work were wonderful. Every day they arrived on time and always cleaned up more than was ever expected.They were employees of Bart. There were only three sub contractors but they too adhered to Bart's high quality standards. Bart stayed on top of the project and one time nearing the completion of the work -there was a small problem and Bart jumped right in to solve it. The project was completed within the time frame.It is great to know that there are still contractors who believe in doing a high quality job. We would not hesitate to recommend Bart and have already provided his name to two people.

We have Bart and his crew turn a covered porch into a usuable year round playroom. This included new windows/HVac work/pant/etc. Bart did a great job with the project. It was finished quicker than expected and looks amazing. It’s been 5 months later and we love everything about the room.

We hired Bart to add a master suite to the back of our house. We originally started to use a contractor who was a friend of a friend and it was a complete nightmare. He couldn’t give us a true estimate, kept delaying the start of the project and we are so glad we didn’t end up with him. Our friends used and recommended Bart and we are so happy that he did our remodel. We told Bart that we already had the plans from the first contractor and that we had a lot of unique custom requests that the average client would not do. Bart had to incorporate using antique doors from 1880, used antique armoire cabinet doors as linen closet doors, framed in a church window, used a dresser as the bathroom vanity, mounted an antique salvaged 8 ft built in mirror and rewired the sconces from 1907, created a large arched entranceway to match the existing ones throughout the house. We also used vintage lighting throughout that was challenging to hang/mount. Bart’s crews were not only highly skilled craftsmen, but they were very neat and cleaned up every day. They were on time and on budget. The only additional costs were things that we added during the process. Our friends who have seen our new addition are amazed at the quality and detail put into the custom wainscoting, trim, finishing, etc. Bart was very professional, responded to us promptly and was up front with us throughout the entire remodel. We are still in shock over how beautiful our new master suite is! As soon as we have enough saved up, we are having Bart remodel our kitchen. Thank you Bart and crews for all your hard work! I never wrote a review before, I had to do this one, I have been planning on remodeling my kitchen for a long time, but afraid to go thru the process do to previous experiences. I hired Barts Remodeling after several other estimates, and that was one of the best decisions I ever made. Bart was wonderful and his crew very professional and cared about my concerns. My kitchen came out beautiful and very affordable. I would definitely hire him again for any other project. Our family interviewed a couple of contractors to help us remodel our guesthouse. From the start, Bart's and his team came with a professional and exciting energy that made us feel comfortable with going with Bart's. the team was upfront about what he thought was possible/safe and you knew he was paying attention because he always brings a pad full of notes on the project! Although Bart's was not the lowest quote, we appreciated the reasonable, itemized and thorough estimate!

Everything turned out absolutely perfect! Bart and his team were incredibly responsive and delivered everything we asked for. Bart's initial estimate was right on target with our final cost and the time to completion was very accurate as well. I couldn't believe how fast Bart's team worked! They showed up every day and left the house and work site in great condition and cleaned up the dust as much as humanly possible. It was also amazing to see how they were able to get huge portions of the project completed in such a short period of time so we could move on to the next phase. Having Bart personally advise us on a few decisions really ensured we got the perfect product. The only hiccup we experienced was when a strong storm caused water damage to the existing structure that was under construction, but Bart made sure everything looked as good as new by the end of the project (and with no additional cost added!).

Bart exceeded all expectations. I met with at least a dozen contractors about finishing our basement. Some came recommended from family and friends, others were found on the internet. We had a 900 square foot unfinished basement that we were turning into a large rec/media room with a full bathroom. Bart came recommended from a family nearby who previously hired Bart to finish their basement. Communication with Bart was great from start to finish. He told us when the project would start, how long it would take, when he would finish and what we could expect in terms of noise/disturbance. Then, HE FOLLOWED THROUGH AND DID EVERYTHING THAT HE SAID HE WOULD. He and his workers, Mario and Joe for our project, had great attention to detail and were very clean and respectful (we have 3 kids under 5 years and younger). If anything came up, there was always a discussion before proceeding. Bart and his crew really exceeded all expectations and I highly recommend them to anyone whenever I get the chance. I've attached just a few before and after photos. Please ignore the mess, as you can see my kids are really enjoying the new space!

I was referred to Barts Remodeling and Construction by my interior designer and I'm glad I chose them for my bathroom renovation. When I met with Bart, I thought he was very professional and personable and I was impressed by the very detailed estimate he provided. During the renovation, his crew was also very professional and their work was excellent. Bart and his staff were very responsive to any questions I had. When some of my materials didn't arrive when they were supposed to, they were very patient and worked me into their schedule quickly once they did arrive. This was the first renovation I've ever done on my condo and I feel lucky to have been able to work with such a great contractor!

We engaged bids from several contractors before deciding to work with Bart's team. Bart was straight and to the point and provided a very fair quote. We hired Barts remodeling to finish our basement last summer. He gave us a very detailed estimate and was patient to hear back from us. He started and completed the project on time and within budget. He has an excellent crew working for him all of whom were very very professional and knowledgeable and polite. They did a great job cleaning up after themselves. We did not have to worry about anything. Also, Bart managed the project seamlessly making sure the right crew was there each day to finish the job. He always also super helpful in providing choices for doors, sinks, faucets, granite and cabinets. He even bought samples home for us to choose from. He has an excellent office staff who were very prompt to respond to our queries and providing email confirmations of checks received. Overall we were very pleased with his work and professionalism. Our projects with Bart were completed precisely on time, and on budget, and stress-free. We have remodeled 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and created an entry room, replaced all windows and exterior doors, and refaced an old fireplace with Barts remodeling. We have worked with them on 2 separate occasions, in 2014 and 2016. If you are considering a remodel or addition, here is something you MUST consider, and why you need to hire Barts remodeling. The process of any remodeling is stressful and disruptive to your normal life. if the contractor you are using is not responsive to your questions and concerns through the process, you will become extremely frustrated and your project will suffer, and believe me, so will you. Bart and his crew are constantly attentive, reliable, and want you to be completely satisfied with the process and the outcome. These guys are 110% all the time. They are a great pleasure to work with. We have actually become so fond of them that we miss them when they are gone. Bart is one of those rare contractors whose word is good. He ALWAYS does what he says he will do. The crew does as well. The most important part of this is results. Our home is beautiful, with excellent craftsmanship, and we love coming home to it every day.

Bart did a FANTASTIC job with our basement remodel! His pricing was very reasonable and he stayed within budget. He was very helpful and communicative. They actually finished the job early! It was a pleasure to work with Bart! His team was prompt, professional and got the jobs done according to the budget and timeline laid out at the beginning of the project. We have a house that was built in 1888, and the bathrooms were at least 20yrs old. The upstairs was completely redone with a new layout, a stand-alone shower was installed, a free-standing tub and a new double vanity and toilet. The plumbing and HVAC had to be completely rerouted, and new lights were installed as well. The downstairs bathroom was more cosmetic, and the layout for fixtures did not have to be completely changed. Bart was able to translate our vision for how we wanted the design and aesthetic for the bathrooms into reality, and we couldn't imaging a better outcome. We had a lot of fun picking out our fixtures, and Bart gave us just the right about of guidance for tile choices and layout, paint, and other design elements. They have exceeded our expectations, overall we couldn't be happier!

We were looking for the right team to finish our basement in our newly constructed home that was going to deliver professionalism with quality workmanship, good communication, and trust all within our budget. Bart was available for an in-home estimate shortly after the first contact and was knowledgeable about working with the basement. The project was estimated to be a couple of months and was gladly surprised how things were moving on track. When I went into the project, I had two main concerns. The first concern was that I was not available to check up on his crew/contractors because of work. The crew from Bart’s company is trustworthy and professional. For two months, contractors came and went, worked without owner supervision, and without any issues. I had checked up on the crew couple of times and usually before I leave for work. They were kind and it is good to communicate often so that what is designed on paper gets built properly. Bart also stopped by often to check up on progress. The second concern was that since I was living in my home, I was concerned about construction dust, what would be tracked into the house, and any dents/dings that could happen when moving in lumber/drywall. The crew took care into limiting dust and always took out construction garbage daily. There was a yard dumpster that was parked on the driveway which was used to collect the garbage. With kids in the house, one of my worries was construction dust and construction traffic thru the house. Controlling construction dust and traffic takes effort from both contractor and owner. I had to replace furnace filter often since the furnace sucks up lots of dust. Also at the end of the workweek, I did general clean up so that it is manageable for my family. They used the window well to move in as much materials as they physically could. The dry wall had to be brought thru the house. I had taped up corners on the path from outside to basement with fiberboard, which help limit the dings and dents. It is not going to be a perfect situation when you go thru a basement remodeling in a home you are also living in but Bart’s team helped make it manageable. This was a successful project and to make it successful, it is all in the details. Bart was very good and working thru the details. He was very patient in answering all my questions. I would recommend to anyone working with Bart to ask questions. He is patient and don’t get offended by questions. Get it down on paper so that there are no surprises. I took the time to review and discuss the quote with Bart. Need to ask questions and understand what is included in the standard allowance. You should understand how the garbage will be taken out, does your property have room for an external dumpster, use of restroom (your home or temporary), access into home, work schedule, and timing around visiting suppliers to finalize tiles, carpet or Coretec flooring, hardware, vanity, etc. Bart recommends a set of suppliers to contact but his company is flexible and they will work with other suppliers that you may have used in the past and very willing to get what you want. Overall, the space came out better than we imagined. Bart and the team kept the tasks moving along, bringing the right contractors in at the right time, managed to receive the permits and inspections by the village all on schedule. The kids now have a much-needed larger space to play, as well, as for the adults. Thank you Bart for making a permanent impression into our home!

In the spring of 2016, my husband and I fell in love with a Lincoln Park two-flat that we wanted to convert to a single family home. Our only experience with home remodeling was watching HGTV, so we were definitely scared to take on a gut rehab. After receiving a referral from our realtor, we contacted Bart’s Remodeling. Bart came out the very next day (on a Sunday!) to walk the house and give us a ballpark estimate of the renovation costs. We moved into our Dream Home four and a half months after our closing date, and have Bart and his crew to thank. Bart finished my parent’s basement. He came highly recommended by a friend of mine who had Bart do his basement a year prior. After a brief call I met Bart. He was very punctual and came prepared with an information packet. He had a lot of questions, and noticed a lot of things that other contractors missed on never mentioned. Bart gave me a lot tips and made great suggestions. A few days later Bart sent me a very detailed estimate. The price for the basement with a bathroom and a bedroom came out to the mid thirty thousand which was on the higher end of, but Bart won me over with his attention to detail and that he was the most professional and prepared contractor I met with. From start to finish my parent’s basement took about 4 weeks to finish. Most days we had the same workers doing the majority of the work. They didn’t speak much, but they would show up each morning and worked till they left in the afternoon. Each night the area was tidied up. Bart would stop by most days to check on the progress, and I met with him a couple of times throughout the project. If I didn’t see him Bart was always quick to reply by text or if I sent him an email. The whole project was pleasant and worry free for my parents and myself. I felt that I could trust Bart to do a great job and we are all very happy with the results. We are going to want Bart to come back to work on my kitchen when the time comes.
