Andrea Newill Garden Design

Andrea has literally transformed our garden and the way we use it. We have moved from an impractical garden which was made up of parking space, an overgrown area and a lot of dark pine trees, to one where we now have open views, beautiful outdoor seating areas in different spots, interesting plants at all times of the year and a garden we really love to be in. Andrea's ability to understand what we were looking for, create a vision of what our garden could look like, design it in detail and then deliver it to extremely high standards, has been outstanding. Working with her was one of the best decisions we've made and I cannot recommend her enough.

Andrea worked closely with us from initial brief through design and final planting to turn an overgrown garden into a beautiful low maintenance one. It now has variety of seating areas capturing the best of limited light with a varied planting scheme meeting our brief. It is now a tranquil space we actually want to spend time in. Working with Andrea has been a delight and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for garden design services.

Andrea designed our garden in several stages over several years, working around the building of a garden room from which we would be able to enjoy the extraordinary garden that Andrea was creating for us! We had asked her to design a garden that was very naturalistic and that would flow visually out into the fields and hills immediate to our border on one side and the river Pang flowing all along our opposite border.. I also wanted a pergola with lots of scented climbers along the back of our house where we could sit and enjoy the last of the evening sun ! Eminiently professional as well as wonderfully creative in her use of lines and space and her planting , she created for us exactly what we had had in our minds eye and so so much more. The space out the back of our garden room was on the face of it an awkward long thin triangle, but with Andreas clever use of bold curves in the paths and borders it just seemed to change shape!! Then filled with lots of well chosen herbaceous plants that would withstand the assault of the wind off the hills,the borders are now several years on,well established and just a thing of beauty to behold. Another lovely thing is that the garden is an all season garden, so we have particular parts and plants that shine at different times of the year and it is never just dull and done! The last phase for our garden was in 2014 when the build was finally finished and we were finally able to have the beautiful curved cobbled patio that Andrea had designed on which we sit whenever the weather is even vaguely clement, to enjoy being in our lovely lovely garden and the stunning view! I recommend Andrea in every possible way...she is talented and creative but also thorough and professional. We will always be grateful that we were fortunate enough to have her design our garden and would go so far as to say that the garden we now have has been genuinely both home enhancing and life changing....a quite exceptional out door space that we and our friends and family never tire of looking at and being in!

We hired Andrea after seeing her website as we wanted to turn our very dull walled back garden in to a family entertaining area. Andrea produced us a beautiful design, found us quotes for work and materials and project managed the build from start through to planting. We love the design of our new garden and how it cleverly leads us to use every part of it which we certainly didn’t do with the old garden. We are now looking forward to all the plants and trees coming into their own for their first proper year. Andrea was so professional to deal with and listened carefully to what we wanted from the garden before coming up with the design. She kept us informed of any hurdles encountered during the build and ensured all went smoothly. We are very happy to recommend Andrea as a garden designer.

Andrea was great, she worked with us to understand exactly what we wanted. She produced a great design that worked really well. Co-coordinating with our architects to integrate the indoor and outdoor spaces in a really exciting and successful way. We have been delighted by everything she has done with us.

Our garden was large,neglected and a mess. Andrea visited, drew up an architectural plan, planting plan and gave an estimate. All done in a speedy fashion. (We paid for this work of course as we could have used the plans ourselves). She project managed the whole thing , bringing in experts to do the hard landscaping. Years later we are still extremely happy with the work.

I had choses Andrea for our garden design, because I really liked her web-site's portfolio and when she visited, had a really good awareness of the available light in our garden. She also took time to understand what we wanted from our garden, and how we planned to use it, and incorporate our personal tastes into the design, rather than just her own preferences. On top of that, it was a difficult space, as was sloping in different directions, but Andrea has done a wonderful job by incorporating levels into the garden. Where we had an unusable garden before, we now have amazing lounging and dining areas! The choice of plants has been spot-on and we've enjoyed some wonderful colours, even in the first year, where I had thought there would not be more interest for a year or so. Andrea also had really good contacts with companies who carried out the hard landscaping aspects of the garden build and they did a sterling job of translating the design into reality. Highly recommended!

Andrea has transformed our walled garden into a beautiful, relaxing and very functional area in which we thoroughly enjoy spending time. She has put great thought into the design and given us everything and much more than we wanted. We are thrilled with the finished result and have no hesitation in recommending her.
