AV Architects + Builders Location: Great Falls, VA, US A full kitchen renovation gave way to a much larger space and much wider possibilities for dining and entertaining. The use of multi-level countertops, as opposed to a more traditional center island, allow for a better use of space to seat a larger crowd. The mix of Baltic Blue, Red Dragon, and Jatoba Wood countertops contrast with the light colors used in the custom cabinetry. The clients insisted that they didn’t use a tub often, so we removed it entirely and made way for a more spacious shower in the master bathroom. In addition to the large shower centerpiece, we added in heated floors, river stone pebbles on the shower floor, and plenty of storage, mirrors, lighting, and speakers for music. The idea was to transform their morning bathroom routine into something special. The mudroom serves as an additional storage facility and acts as a gateway between the inside and outside of the home. Our client’s family room never felt like a family room to begin with. Instead, it felt cluttered and left the home with no natural flow from one room to the next. We transformed the space into two separate spaces; a family lounge on the main level sitting adjacent to the kitchen, and a kids lounge upstairs for them to play and relax. This transformation not only creates a room for everyone, it completely opens up the home and makes it easier to move around from one room to the next. We used natural materials such as wood fire and stone to compliment the new look and feel of the family room. Our clients were looking for a larger area to entertain family and guests that didn’t revolve around being in the family room or kitchen the entire evening. Our outdoor enclosed deck and fireplace design provides ample space for when they want to entertain guests in style. The beautiful fireplace centerpiece outside is the perfect summertime (and wintertime) amenity, perfect for both the adults and the kids. Stacy Zarin Photography

This Paradise Valley Estate started as we master planned the entire estate to accommodate this beautifully designed and detailed home to capture a simple Andalusian inspired Mediterranean design aesthetic, designing spectacular views from each room not only to Camelback Mountain, but of the lush desert gardens that surround the entire property. We collaborated with Tamm Marlowe design and Lynne Beyer design for interiors and Wendy LeSeuer for Landscape design.

SUNDAYS IN PATTON PARK This elegant Hamilton, MA home, circa 1885, was constructed with high ceilings, a grand staircase, detailed moldings and stained glass. The character and charm allowed the current owners to overlook the antiquated systems, severely outdated kitchen and dysfunctional floor plan. The house hadn’t been touched in 50+ years but the potential was obvious. Putting their faith in us, we updated the systems, created a true master bath, relocated the pantry, added a half bath in place of the old pantry, installed a new kitchen and reworked the flow, all while maintaining the home’s original character and charm. Gorgeous Master Bathroom remodel. We kept most of the original layout but removed a small linen closet, a large jetted tub, and a fiberglass shower. We enlarged the shower area to include a built in seat and wall niche. We framed in for a drop in soaking tub and completely tiled that half of the room from floor to ceiling and installed a large mirror to help give the room an even larger feel. The cabinets were designed to have a center pantry style cabinet to make up for the loss of the linen closet. We installed large format porcelain on the floor and a 4x12 white porcelain subway tile for the shower, tub, and walls. The vanity tops, ledges, curb, and seat are all granite. All of the fixtures are a flat black modern style and a custom glass door and half wall panel was installed. This Master Bathroom is pure class!

This was an update from a combination Tub/Shower Bath into a more modern walk -in Shower. We used a sliding barn door shower enclosure and a sleek large tile with a metallic pencil trim to give this outdated bathroom a much needed refresh. We also incorporated a laminate wood wall to coordinate with the tile. The floating shelves helped to add texture and a beautiful point of focus. The vanity is floating above the floor with a mix of drawers and open shelving for storage.

Intense color draws you into this bathroom. the herringbone tile floor is heated, and has a good non slip surface. We tried mixing brass with mattle black in this bathroom, and it looks great!

A master bathroom we dressed in cool, coastal blues and sea greens. We gave this bathroom a colorful but minimalist style, creating a refreshing, clean, and spa-like feel. The crisp white freestanding tub is placed near the tiled accent wall (a full-wall adorned in micro blue and green tiles). A floating glass shelf offers the perfect amount of space to place bath products while staying transparent and uncluttered. Behind the tub are two separate spaces, one of the large walk-in shower and the other for the toilet. The vanity boasts beautiful cabinets, silver hardware, and a lustrous shell-like backsplash.
