Spanish Mediterranean ReDesign

The fresh green provides a cheerful welcome and the clean lines of the furniture adds interest to the small foyer. We kept the original 1920's light fixture. I think It's important to have a place to put down packages and bags as you come in the house, as well as have a spot to keep pocket items like car keys. The table, actually an Oak school desk, has lidded boxes that held small items and provided that crucial landing place for handbag or groceries. The chair is a small primitive antique from Hungary that provides a handy place to remove shoes (something the clients needed) as well as a visually interesting mate to the school desk and modern art. I love the way the rectilinear lines of the furniture plays with the bold black frame and the vertical but broken lines of the artwork. The paint was carefully chosen to provide a backdrop for this particular painting. Shellie Walker
