A once small enclosed Jack and Jill bathroom that was connected to the master bedroom and to the hallway completely rebuilt to become the master bathroom as part of an open floor design with the master bedroom. 2 walk-in closets (his and hers) with frosted glass bi-fold doors, the wood flooring of the master bedroom continues into the bathroom space, a nice sized 72" wall mounted vanity wood finish vanity picks up the wood grains of the floor and a huge side to side LED mirror gives a great depth effect. The huge master shower can easily accommodate 2 people with dark bamboo printed porcelain tile for the floor and bench and a light gray stripped rectangular tiled walls gives an additional feeling of space.

A young family with children purchased a home on 2 acres that came with a large open detached garage. The space was a blank slate inside and the family decided to turn it into living quarters for guests! Our Plano, TX remodeling company was just the right fit to renovate this 1500 sf barn into a great living space. Sarah Harper of h Designs was chosen to draw out the details of this garage renovation. Appearing like a red barn on the outside, the inside was remodeled to include a home office, large living area with roll up garage door to the outside patio, 2 bedrooms, an eat in kitchen, and full bathroom. New large windows in every room and sliding glass doors bring the outside in. The versatile living room has a large area for seating, a staircase to walk in storage upstairs and doors that can be closed. renovation included stained concrete floors throughout the living and bedroom spaces. A large mud-room area with built-in hooks and shelves is the foyer to the home office. The kitchen is fully functional with Samsung range, full size refrigerator, pantry, countertop seating and room for a dining table. Custom cabinets from Latham Millwork are the perfect foundation for Cambria Quartz Weybourne countertops. The sage green accents give this space life and sliding glass doors allow for oodles of natural light. The full bath is decked out with a large shower and vanity and a smart toilet. Luxart fixtures and shower system give this bathroom an upgraded feel. Mosaic tile in grey gives the floor a neutral look. There’s a custom-built bunk room for the kids with 4 twin beds for sleepovers. And another bedroom large enough for a double bed and double closet storage. The home’s existing master bathroom was very compartmentalized (the pretty window that you can now see over the tub was formerly tucked away in the closet!), and had a lot of oddly angled walls. We created a completely new layout, squaring off the walls in the bathroom and the wall it shared with the master bedroom, adding a double-door entry to the bathroom from the bedroom and eliminating the (somewhat strange) built-in desk in the bedroom. Moving the locations of the closet and the commode closet to the front of the bathroom made room for a massive shower and allows the light from the window that had been in the former closet to brighten the space. It also made room for the bathroom’s new focal point: the fabulous freestanding soaking tub framed by deep niche shelving. The new double-door entry shower features a linear drain, bench seating, three showerheads (two handheld and one overhead), and floor-to-ceiling tile. A floating double vanity with bookend storage towers in contrasting wood anchors the opposite wall and offers abundant storage (including two built-in hampers in the towers). Champagne bronze fixtures and honey bronze hardware complete the look of this luxurious retreat.

In planning the design we used many existing home features in different ways throughout the home. Shiplap, while currently trendy, was a part of the original home so we saved portions of it to reuse in the new section to marry the old and new. We also reused several phone nooks in various areas, such as near the master bathtub. One of the priorities in planning the design was also to provide family friendly spaces for the young growing family. While neutrals were used throughout we used texture and blues to create flow from the front of the home all the way to the back.
