Reworked Bauformat Kitchen in Findon Village, West Sussex We’re seeing more than ever before that our clients are seeking to incorporate open plan living into their homes. With older style properties built in a different era, significant building work must be undertaken to transform traditionally separated rooms into a free-flowing kitchen and dining space. The new-age, open plan style of living is what enticed these local clients into undertaking a vast renovation, which needless to say, undertook a vast number of trades, including our internal building work service which has been used to manipulate the existing space into the client’s vision. With a multi-functional design to fit the project brief, managing director Phil has created a fantastic design to fit the new space with additional functionality and visually appealing design inclusions. The Previous Kitchen The previous layout of the space was comprised of a separate kitchen and dining room space. To create the desired layout, the internal wall has been removed, with a door out to a conservatory blocked off and finished, alongside newly fitted French doors into a living room. Full plastering has been undertaken were necessary, with a boiler discretely integrated into a cupboard space, and new Honed Oyster Slate Karndean flooring fitted throughout the newly created space. Kitchen Furniture This furniture used for this project makes use of our newest kitchen supplier Bauformat. Bauformat are a German supplier known for their extensive choice and unique colourways, with the colours opted for playing a key part in this kitchen aesthetic. Another unique Bauformat inclusion in this kitchen is the inverted handleless rail system: CP35. The name of which comes from the 35° inverted integrated handle used to operate kitchen drawers and doors. To create bold contrast in this space two finishes have been used from the Porto S range, with both having used in the silky-matt finish that is again unique to a Bauformat kitchen. The Colourways Navy and Quartz Grey have been used and with the silky-matt finish of both doors, creating a theatrical looking space thanks to the richness of Navy units. The layout of this kitchen is simple, a U-shape run utilises most of the space, with a peninsula island creating casual dining space for three. A full height run of units is adjacent, which features the main bulk of appliances and pull-out pantry drawers for organised storage. Kitchen Appliances Matching the origin of the kitchen itself, German Neff appliances feature throughout this kitchen space. A superior specification of appliances has been used all-around to incorporate useful features unique to the Neff. In terms of cooking appliances, a Neff Slide & Hide oven and combination oven provide flexible cooking options alongside heaps of innovations that help to make cooking a simpler task. A Neff fridge-freezer is integrated seamlessly behind furniture doors for a seamless design, with useful features like Fresh Safe and Low Frost integrated to optimise food storage. A Neff Hob and built-in extractor feature in this kitchen, with a built-in extractor opted for to discretely fit within the theme of the wall units. Elsewhere, a Neff dishwasher is similarly integrated into Navy base units. Kitchen Accessories A major accessory of this kitchen is the tremendous work surfaces that features throughout the U-shape of the kitchen. These surfaces are from manufacturer Silestone and have been opted for in the neutral white Arabesque colourway. The worktops neatly complement and tie in the Navy and Quartz Grey furniture, whilst reflecting light around the room nicely. An accessory you can’t miss is the vibrant splashback provided by Southern Counties Glass. Again, this splashback complements the Navy furniture and provides a wipe-clean, easy-to-maintain surface. A Blanco 1.5 bowl composite sink has been included in the subtle Pearl Grey finish, with a chrome Sterling Nesso filtering tap fitted above. Lighting as always was a key consideration for this project. Pendant lights have been fitted in the kitchen and dining area, spotlights throughout the whole space and undercabinet lighting fitted beneath all wall units for ambient light. Plentiful storage has been well-placed throughout the space with extra-wide glass sided pan drawers adding vast storage and pull-out pantry storage fitted nicely within full-height units. Additional Bathroom Renovation In addition to the kitchen and dining area, these clients also opted for the renovation of a shower room at the same time, also designed by Phil. The space is maximised by placing the shower enclosure in the alcove of the room, with remaining space used for furniture, HiB illuminating mirror and W/C. The small amount of furniture is from supplier Saneux’s … range and features a … countertop basin and … tap. … Grey tiling has been used for most of the space in this room with reflective mosaic tilling used centrally in the shower enclosure as a neat design feature. … brassware has been used in the shower for dependability. Throughout the bathroom space, pipework has been boxed-in and tiled to keep the space looking unfussy and minimal. Our Kitchen & Bathroom Design & Fitting Services As projects go, there aren’t too many that eclipse this project in terms of the trades and services involved. For the kitchen and dining area internal building work has shaped the space for the kitchen to be fitted with flooring, electrics, lighting, plastering, and carpentry used to fit new French doors. For the bathroom space, full fitting, tiling, plumbing, lighting, and electrics have been used to give the space a fresh uplift. The brief for this kitchen design was contemporary and quirky. The client was keen to inject lots of colour into the design as well as industrial accents. The final design features a dark and rich contemporary paint palette which allowed the funky accessories such as the pendant lights and blinds to really pop.

A large family kitchen which flows perfectly into the new orangery. Designed using a variety of tactile surfaces including stone and wood. With a 3.5 metres long central island with unusual curved steps between the surfaces, it defines the space and is practical for incorporating storage, food preparation areas and is a wonderful focus for gathering people. There is also a walk in larder with marble surfaces for appliances and food storage.

As part of an expansive extension to a Victorian property in a picturesque village just outside Winchester, Searle & Taylor was appointed to design and make a capacious bespoke in-frame Shaker kitchen with a separate walk-in pantry. The clients were seeking a traditional handpainted kitchen with a statement island as the central focus of the room. At the end of the extension are double doors leading to the garden so the design was created to ensure that the island and pendant lights were completely symmetrical with this feature. With storage a key component, there are 26 pull-out drawers in the kitchen and pantry, all featuring solid oak dovetail drawer boxes, plus four open vegetable wicker basket drawers. All cabinetry is painted in Inkwell by Colour Trend Paints. Darren Taylor designed breakfront cabinetry using a 30mm chamfer frame with oak carcases for the cooking and wet runs and all feature tongue and grooved end panels. For the cooking area, opposite the island, he designed symmetrical cupboards and drawers on both sides of the Rangemaster range cooker, with a silver antique glass splashback above it within a bow fronted Adam-style canopy. The large canopy features a central ceiling-height cornice with a lacquered oak overmantel shelf complete with corbel supports with a horizontal dowel that runs through them used for hanging cooking utensils. Slim cabinets on either side of the canopy include oak internal shelving, with one that houses a knife rack mounted on the interior door. Each features single spice drawers beneath, while additional floating cabinets extending from the canopy feature further small spice drawers to the right and left. A pair of integrated fridge freezers are concealed by floor to ceiling cabinetry décor fronts. The wet run is situated beneath a large window, extending at a right angle, and includes storage and utility cupboards, an integrated dishwasher and a cupboard for pull-out bins. Centrally located beneath the window is a double farmhouse sink by Villeroy & Boch, which incorporates a waste disposal unit by InSinkerator, and a satin brass tap by Perrin & Rowe. Specified throughout the kitchen, on the island, and in the walk-in pantry, is a 20mm thick quartz worktop with pencil edging in Blanco Zeus by Silestone. This surface is also used as an upstand and as a stone sill situated beneath the sink to help protect the cabinetry from water damage. To both sides of the double doors leading to the garden are symmetrical wall-mounted dresser cabinets with open shelving and tongue and groove back panels. These are used to store cookery books and decorative items and they connect with one another via a flyover shelf above the doorway. Beneath each are further storage cupboards. On the working side of the 4.7 metre x 1.4 metre island feature are 10 symmetrical 900mm wide drawers to accommodate pans, plates and crockery. On the side facing the walk-in pantry the worksurface overhangs at the centre to accommodate four counter stools beneath for informal dining. At each end, are 900mm cutlery drawers above vegetable baskets on hardwood runners. At each corner of the island are square chamfered legs with lamb’s tongue edging that surround tongue and grooved end panels. Above the island are three pendant lights by Jim Lawrence Lighting. The walk-in pantry is situated in an original part of the house and during the design process it was agreed to showcase the original brickwork. This room features a combination of enclosed cabinetry for storing dry foodstuffs with plenty of open shelving to house bowls, baskets and vases. Throughout the kitchen and the walk-in pantry, a mix of Armac Martin antique brass ball knob and pull-cup handles, together with brass butt hinges all add to the contemporary Shaker aesthetic.

The Brief This Shoreham-by-Sea client sought a kitchen improvement to make the most of a sunny extension space. As part of the project new flooring was also required, which was to run from the front porch of the property to the rear bi-fold doors. A theme with a nod to this client’s seaside location was favoured, as well as a design that maximised storage space. An island was also a key desirable of this project brief. Design Elements A combination of Tyrolean Blue and Oak furniture have been utilised, creating the coastal theme that this client favoured. These finishes are from British supplier Mereway, and have been used in their handleless option. The layout groups most of the functional kitchen areas together, with the extension part of the kitchen equipped with plenty of storage and an area to store decorative items. Aron has incorporated an island space as this client required. It’s a thin island purposefully, ensuring there is plenty of space for the clients dining area. Special Inclusions As part of the project, this client sought to improve their appliance functionality. Incorporating Neff models for an integrated fridge-freezer, integrated washing machine, single oven and a combination microwave. A BORA X Pure is placed upon the island and combines an 83cm induction surface with a powerful built-in extraction system. The X Pure venting hob is equipped with two oversized cooking zones, which can fit several pots and pans, or can even be used with the BORA grill pan. Additionally, a 30cm wine cabinet has been built into furniture at the extension area of the kitchen. This is a new Neff model that can cool up to twenty-one standard wine bottles. Above the sink area a Quooker 100°C boiling water tap can also be spotted. This is their famous Flex model, which is equipped with a pull-out nozzle, and is shown in the stainless-steel finish. Project Highlight The extension area of the project is a fantastic highlight. It provides plenty of storage as the client required, but also doubles as an area to store decorative items. In the extension area designer Aron has made great use of lighting options, integrating spotlights into each storage cubbyhole, as well as beneath wall units in this area and throughout the kitchen. The End Result This project achieves all the elements of the brief, incorporating a coastal theme, plenty of storage space, an island area, and a new array of high-tech appliances. Thanks to our complete installation option this client also undertook a complete flooring improvement, as well as a full plastering of all downstairs ceilings. This project completely remodelled a semi-detached house in a conservation area of Wandsworth Common, South London. Utilising the slope of the site, we introduced a semi basement to the rear containing a bedroom, living space and kitchenette – connected through a new staircase and hallway. Above this is a large single storey extension containing a contemporary kitchen, utility, dining and living space as well as a raised terrace. A material choice of rendered walls, timber slats and pearl-grey aluminium doors both compliment the existing house, as well as making a bold new statement at the rear. Because of the South-facing aspect, and bright natural light, we were able to introduce a bold colour scheme of stiffkey blue kitchen units, copper plated extract, oak timber floors and dark panelled entrance hall. The added space has transformed the house, almost doubling the key living areas and providing a modern flexible home that can be adapated for future use.
