Barn conversion - Black & Magic Grey handle-less kitchen

This is one of our recent projects, which was part of a stunning Barn conversion. We saw this project transform from a Cow shed, with raw bricks and mud, through to a beautiful home. The kitchen is a Kuhlmann German handle-less Kitchen in Black supermatt & Magic Grey high gloss, with Copper accents and Dekton Radium worktops. The simple design complements the rustic features of this stunning open plan room. Ovens are Miele Artline Graphite. The kitchen island leads into the family room, where glowing floral lighting call to the gardens outside. Nature inspired artwork by Kaoru Mansour and Joyce Gehl hang on the walls, creating another conversation with the plant life outside.A Calacata Avorio marble island offers a large surface to prepare food, or enjoy breakfast while admiring exterior views. Stacks of produce are at the ready for convenient snacking, with vegan cookbooks close at hand in preparation for larger meals. A custom niche was designed to display a pottery collection, and offers another space for plant life to grow. Golden hues in the marble add warmth. Wooden bar stools neatly tuck into the island, perfect for socializing and conversation while preparing meals. The kitchen was made with natural materials to inspire peace, and encourage a connection between the environment when considering the food being prepared. A custom knife drawer as part of cabinetry made in collaboration with a local artisan, conveniently located near the oven for easy preparation. FSC certified no VOC apple ply was used for the cabinetry. Custom silverware drawers give ample space for a variety of flatware. Fresh fruit available for healthy snacking doubles as colorful decor. Artwork by Karen Sikie provides a permanent bouquet when flowers begin to wilt. The pantry, featuring a large concealed fridge to match the cabinetry. On the left, two freezer drawers sit below the counter, with additional storage for dried goods and spices. Custom cabinets made in collaboration with a local craftsperson are painted in a warm grey to bring out the dove tones in the marble. The counter tops were specified to reach the clients ideal height for food preparation. The kitchen is designed for ease of use and calm, creating a mindful experience for cooking.

With a striking, bold design that's both sleek and warm, this modern rustic black kitchen is a beautiful example of the best of both worlds. When our client from Wendover approached us to re-design their kitchen, they wanted something sleek and sophisticated but also comfortable and warm. We knew just what to do — design and build a contemporary yet cosy kitchen. This space is about clean, sleek lines. We've chosen Hacker Systemat cabinetry — sleek and sophisticated — in the colours Black and Oak. A touch of warm wood enhances the black units in the form of oak shelves and backsplash. The wooden accents also perfectly match the exposed ceiling trusses, creating a cohesive space. This modern, inviting space opens up to the garden through glass folding doors, allowing a seamless transition between indoors and out. The area has ample lighting from the garden coming through the glass doors, while the under-cabinet lighting adds to the overall ambience. The island is built with two types of worksurface: Dekton Laurent (a striking dark surface with gold veins) for cooking and Corian Designer White for eating. Lastly, the space is furnished with black Siemens appliances, which fit perfectly into the dark colour palette of the space.

These clients own a very unique home, originally constructed circa 1760 and extensively renovated in 2008. They were seeking some additional space for home exercise, but didn’t necessarily want to disturb the existing structure, nor did they want to live through construction with a young child. Additionally, they were seeking to create a better area for outdoor entertaining in anticipation of installing an in-ground pool within the next few years. This new pavilion combines all of the above features, while complementing the materials of the existing home. This modest 1-story structure features an entertaining / kitchenette area and a private and separate space for the homeowner’s home exercise studio.

This Bonita Bay kitchen was updated in white perimeter Dura Supreme cabinets and complemented with MSI Calacutta Clara quartz countertops, featuring a milky-white backdrop and gorgeous long linear veining. The quartz countertops are paired expertly with a Tesoro Arctic Matte tile backsplash, the ripple effect which creates movement and greets spectators with a simple, contemporary style. Bringing warmth and sophistication to the space, our clients chose a complimentary transitional, medium brown Dura Supreme cabinet stain (Morel) that features a touch of gray used on the island, open shelves, and oven hood. This beautiful hand-rubbed, stained finish enhances the natural character and grain of the wood species and expertly ties the ceiling beam into the living room space. Completing the look are two aged brass pendants by Capital Lighting that hang above the oversized island, as well as new Bosch appliances and Provenza hardwood flooring that seamlessly blend the open living space together.

This project was a collaboration with a contractor we have partnered with for years to create a unique home for him and his family. Shane and Anna Butterick of GSB Building are from New Zealand, and this influenced a great deal of the design decisions on the project. The choice of materials such as the wood finishes and the decision to leave steel beams exposed are influenced by a desire to remind them of a South Island style. The project is centred around a self-build mentality. We achieved planning for a full width and side return extension, with full height steel doors adding an industrial style to this typical Victorian brick terraced house. The ground floor has been entirely reconfigured, to create one large open plan kitchen, dining and living space. The tall metal doors open onto a small but perfectly formed courtyard garden. At the upper level, a luxury master suite has been created, with a large free-standing bath its centrepiece. We were also able to extend the loft to create a new bedroom with ensuite. Much of the interior design is the result of Anna’s eclectic style and attention to detail. Shane and his team took responsibility for building the project and creating a very high-end finish. This project was a truly collaborative effort.
