This "Great Room" was created by removing walls between the kitchen, bedroom and hallway. New windows and a french door connect it to the new screened in porch. The color scheme for this large space was to be a dreamy, lake inspired blue and white. Once most things were installed it was clear that the room felt too "floaty", or airy. In Feng Shui language there was too much Chi moving through the space. We are attempting to help the space feel more anchored by introducing some more color (The persimmon colored rug, the console table table which was an old sleigh, plants and bolder artwork.

Maria Bortugno, B Designs When I first met Chris, she walked me through her lovely home frustrated by the task at hand and the unfinished, uncohesive, disjointed spaces. Everything was beige, spread about in odd configurations and lacked any personality. "Chris" a pretty blue eyed blonde, was nowhere present. I liked the lines of the furniture and after discussing Chris's favorite colors, needs and wants, we decided to reupholster the formerly "all beige" furniture in blues and whites and add drapes to coordinate. As with many families, wear and tear was a concern. Chris with three kids, a hubby anda large Doodle-Puppy name Maddie, was no exception. We chose fabrics that looked pretty, had a soft hand but would stand up to Kool Aid and muddy paws. The blue and white area rug, is polypropylene and relatively indestructible, yet soft to the touch. We rearranged the furniture, opening up the space to the adjoining Dining room for flow and added Full length drapery to the exhiisting shutters for warmth and charm. A cozy family room is all you need to feel warm in the pacific northwest. With newly painted grey walls from the previous owner, these new owners wanted to warm up the space using as much of their existing furniture as possible. A navy and yellow color scheme with warm woods help achieve their needs.

Another view of this spacious family room. With such a large space, the homeowners wanted two separate seating areas. One that faced the fireplace and TV and one that was a little farther away from the TV, becoming a makeshift home office part of the time. It is an inviting space with rich colors and a warm feel that is needed in the rainy pacific northwest.

Chris was a referral from a very good client and freimd. But until me she had only used, furniture store de orators and was unhappy with the beige results. I suggested we work with and reupholster her existing furniture pieces as I liked the curved lines and the end result is stunning. A lovely shade of blue velvet, for her sofa and white linen for her side chairs add texture and warmth to the space.

Full condo renovation: replaced carpet and laminate flooring with continuous LVP throughout; painted kitchen cabinets; added tile backsplash in kitchen; replaced appliances, sink, and faucet; replaced light fixtures and repositioned/added lights; selected all new furnishings- some brand new, some salvaged from second-hand sellers. Goal of this project was to stretch the dollars, so we worked hard to put money into the areas with highest return and get creative where possible. Phase 2 will be to update additional light fixtures and repaint more areas.
