Betz Pools LimitedThe owners of this contemporary classic country home near Guelph chose Betz to install a Gunite pool, spa and patio to complete their leisure retreat. They knew exactly what they wanted and already had everything meticulously planned, including provision for gas, electrical and all features.
Betz Pools LimitedDirectly behind the lounge area is a small section of lawn which serves as a children’s play area. To ensure durability and help maintain the backyard’s low maintenance objective it has been covered with artificial turf. One side is bordered by an acid etched concrete stepping-stone path featuring artificial turf inserts.

The modern, smooth square-faced coping was picked to match the Indiana limestone on the home and cabana. The pool’s full-length elevated feature wall is also clad in Algonquin stone.

Betz Pools LimitedThis pool’s black granite liner lends a rich dark blue hue to the water which can be quite dramatic against the surrounding palette of colours. At certain times of day, the water can look almost black like a natural pond. The matching black granite coping helps to extend the look.
Betz Pools LimitedThe highlight of the backyard is the 15 x 32 vinyl pool with custom walk-in steps and underwater swim out bench at the deep end. To comply with Toronto’s fence requirements the pool area is fully enclosed with wrought iron fence. The section along the back features frosted glass panels interspersed with evergreens.
Betz Pools LimitedThe generous patio areas around this pool are useful when entertaining large groups. The pool deck and other walkways and terraces are finished in custom beige Patterned Concrete with a rock skins texture defined by random rectangular saw cuts to give it a classic modern look.

The large 20’ x 45’ custom vinyl pool fits comfortably into the terrain thanks to a stepped retaining wall at the shallow end of the pool which provides the backdrop for a spacious lounge area.

The patio is acid etched concrete interspersed with inserts of artificial turf. This concrete finish mimics the look of limestone without having natural stone’s tendency for staining.

The slightly elevated 6’ x 7’ spa at the shallow end has a black Pebble Tec interior edged with black tile. When not in use the spa overflows into the pool and looks like a glistening sheet of black glass.

The shadow on the pool floor below the grotto shows how the pool’s shallow level extends to the grotto. This allows non-swimmers to reach the grotto by walking there in the comfort of waist depth water.
