Our designer Marc recommended an open plan layout to meet their needs, so the couple agreed to knock through to the dining area. “We had a peninsular and wall unit previously, making the room feel cramped and cut off from the rest of the house. They knocked down two walls so that our kitchen could flow through to the dining room”. Once the decision had been made to make the space open plan, Stephen and Victoria chose a modern design with high gloss doors in stylish cashmere. To encourage the flow through to the dining area, Marc chose handle-less doors and a curved edge for a streamlined and stripped back effect. This was complemented with a quartz worktop, NEFF appliances and an 1810 sink. Marc drew up a 3D design that the couple loved, but they had a change of mind further down the line. “After careful consideration I decided that I’d like a separate utility room to keep the mess out of the kitchen” says Victoria. “I was worried that it would be too late, but Neil and Marc spent hours adjusting all the plans for us, sending us emails back and forth until we were completely happy”. Once the plans had been finalised, it was time for the couple to have their brand new kitchen fitted. “A few minor problems came up during installation, but these were fixed straight away” Stephen explained. “The workmen were excellent and, even though we were on holiday for part of the installation, we knew our house was in safe hands”. The work was completed in around 4 weeks, including building work and an additional downstairs bathroom. “Nothing was too much trouble for La Medida. They listened to us and invested the time needed to really understand our needs. We have a beautiful, light kitchen as the focal point of our home and we can’t fault the overall experience”.
