All suggestions welcome....I'm trying to figure out a low maintenance way to design my front yard. Want to build a wood box Infront of the large white wall to store my trashcans behind...how will that look? Who even does that? What suggestions do you have? Thank you?

That would be better than having trash cans out in the open, but you certainly need to landscape that side of your house no matter what you do. It's such a big area, if you can't afford to consult a landscape designer, just be sure to buy trees/bushes that won't grow too tall (when full grown), but will cover up at least half of that wall, and have three levels of plantings (step down from the tall bushes). There's nothing wrong with buying things that will eventually grow to the right height. The bigger bushes you buy the more expensive they are. While keeping in mind the difficulty of mowing around round shapes, curved shapes are more attractive. Don't know what climate you're in, but here are a couple ideas.

I'm not sure a wood screen is the right design element for your home's design. Even a box doesn't seem appropriate because it will be too tall.

If budget allows, I’d look into using breeze block as screening instead of wood. There are lots of ways it could be done.

As far as landscaping, you’ll need to give your general location for suggestions.

With being on a slope, it might be worth calling a pro in for a consultation.

ETA: There are lots of types of metal screening, too, that you could permantly install and use in front.

Why not keep trash cans in the garage and roll them out the drive to the street on pick up day? I think you need a xeriscape lawn installation. Google for specialists in your locale. Looks like you have a great wall for something espaliered.

Is that grass or astroturf? Asking as I think it makes a difference in what you do with rest of the scape. Is there no space or acess to right side of garage for trash cans?

Some landscape design firms don’t like a sloped front yard, but we love them! Sloped yards are a great opportunity to play with hardscape, entryways, and retaining walls. If you are in a dryer climate, adding retaining walls, pathways, and garden beds to your front yard makes it easier to avoid grass. Or, if you want to keep your lawn, you should look into leveling the front yard with a retaining wall at the front of the yard near the street. It sounds like you are at the beginning stages of planning this project, now is a great time to look around at houses with a similar shape, color, and lot slope and see how the homeowners worked with their space. As for the garbage cans, maybe look into hiding them on the right side of the house, or in the garage if space allows. We’ve also compiled some of ourbest tips for planning your front yard, which might be helpful if you aren’t planning on hiring a landscaping company. Good luck, can’t wait to see how it turns out!
