It's just the drywall ceiling. I think you are seeing the metal frame of the glass making it look like the ceiling is different in there. Ceiling of whole room is flush.

Thank you so much for replying – I really appreciate it. I’m assuming this is a steam shower. I thought the ceiling had to be tiled or protected in some way?
