Unfortunately we can't provide a sound answer to this question as we've only used it ourselves in the zone 9 - 10 region here in florida. It is a tropical plant, developed in California years ago, and is a relative to the philodendron as its leaf style shows. It hasn't held up well with extended temperatures below freezing here, and my thoughts would be that it wouldn't survive. For a more definite answer you should check with some landscape architects or designers in your area. Another hint would be if many larger, qualtiy growers in your area are unfamiliar with the plant and are not offering it, its usually for a reason. Hope this helps.

I agree with Universal. Xanadu grows here in California in 9 & 10 but is an indoor house plant in freezing locations. You can tell it would be a bad plant to have outdoors in the winter because it is almost a succulent and the freezing of the plant tissue expands the cells breaking them and when the plant unfreezes the leaves and stems are wilted because it has no intact plant cells.
