Subway tile: matte or glossy?

Hi there, friends. An informal poll here. I'm doing white subway in my kitchen, and was set on matte tiles, but then saw some photos of kitchens with glossy tiles and of course, now I'm second guessing myself. Cabinets will be painted white, counter tops a charcoal/grey laminate. (Rush, by Nevamar). My style is funky, ethnic, a bit of industrial, zen - a mish-mash - but the kitchen cabinets are pretty traditional. (House built in 70s.) Thank you for your fun input here! ;-)

Matte for the industrial / zen mashup

How about a mix of both? Love that look.

If you're going for the industrial look, the matte tiles would be a great addition!

Thanks all - I'm going to stick with matte. Not truly industrial by any stretch, but possibly some elements.

I would put in a late vote for matte also. I like laminate, but if I were doing it, I would get matte as I don't think laminate plays with "shiny" surfaces as well as the stones do.
