As for flooring - what about something in wood effect. There are some amazing wood effect products these days. e.g. Quick step Impressive Ultra

I have samples of this product and it fells and looks amazingly like wood. Ultimately I ordered real wood, but I was very impressed by this product. It's sold as suitable for bathrooms and kitchens as well as living rooms. So good for playroom spills etc.
