That material is Soapstone. I cannot remember what particular flavor those slabs were. Depending on your access to stone fabricators and what is being quarried now (as this project is over 10 years old) you may well find a lovely selection. Soapstone is known for subtle variation and veining. This project exhibits a stronger version, more graphic.
