I wouldn't paint it...just work with it and chose/decorate to compliment with a rustic feel.

You can keep it as is or paint it. Your choice. If you keep it then do a medium dark floor.

I agree with Judy. I would leave the rock wall as is and pick a complementary color for the rest of the walls.

Looks great as is, don't paint, don't darken, I agree with first poster and would go with natural modern palette: linen, white, wood, jute rug etc..

I would paint wall in a white that has a tiny touch of warmth to go with the sand element of the rock (personally I love simply white by Benjamin Moore, would avoid anything that goes more towards the yellow And wouldn't do a blue/grey white like decorator white)

sorry to be the one disagreeing opinion -- I would have it removed. it is not that expensive to do and then add drywall. Only keep it if you LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Now is the time to get rid of it while everything is open and being worked on.

We had a similar stone I lived with for eight year (8 long years). When I finally got rid of it, I was like, Wow, Why didn't I do that sooner???

The problem isn't the concept, it is that it isn't well executed. It looks like (and is) small slabs of rock made to adhere to an existing wall. It doesn't look like a wall built out of stone.

Don't remove it and add drywall. How boring is that? That wall is very interesting and I don't know why someone would even suggest such a common thing. There are a lot of good pictures people posted for you to get inspiration from.

Hello, let the rock wall be your focal point. Suggestion: paint the walls a nice gray tone and trims, frames and ceiling use simply white by BM. Your rocks "rock"!!!!! :)

I would leave it and work around it. It adds character to the room and depending on how you treat the rest of the space, could be a very interesting layer of texture. Here's an image that came to mind, even though this is a fireplace, I still believe the colors/textures/finishes could be applicable.
