The room that fuels your body powers your imagination. Get this space right and the rest of the house will be easy to digest.

If renovating or decorating hall, stairs and landing, then definitely a pro. Just decorating everywhere else, then DIY.

Each one of us has a favourite opinion about a specific room or two, where we feel comfortable......... so for the rest where we would struggle the most,.. is where I would hire a Professional.

I think kitchen goes first because now kitchen isn't place just for cooking, it is extremely multi-functional place. Moreover, there are so many appliances big and small, need to consider right size storage, comfortable space for cooking etc. We all have different habits and lifestyle, which need to be planned and designed individually for comfort and happy life.

Definitely the kitchen, there are so many new technologies that appear all the time that your designer will know about and they can help you to make the most of your space. Also kitchens are becoming the heart of the home so need to be a beautiful and practical space whilst also being suitable for socialising or keeping your eye on the kids whilst they do their homework.

I think the room that you spend the most time in .....

Kitchens. They are more complex than other spaces, as many different activities take place within them, and unlike other rooms furniture cannot easily be moved should the initial set-up be inconvenient.

The kitchen is the new social hub of the home, so it has become even more important that this room now works ergonomically whilst accommodating multiple functions.

There is certainly now an increased emphasis upon our roles as designers to create homes with kitchens that are both practical and beautiful spaces.

Not just because of what we do, but I would say it has to be joint kitchen and bathroom. Both are extremely important rooms, with equipment and functionality issues that have to be gotten right. I would need a prefoessional to make sure I wasn't making a huge mistake! (in my case I know nothing about kitchens so would definitely want a pro!)

We always recommend hiring a professional to do your garden, you don't want to spend money on beautiful new slabs for them to pop or crack after a few months!

Kitchens have the most demand of function placed on them and more than ever as homes are extended and re-purposed.
