If you have cherry wood floors you have lots of options for cabinet colors. The color you choose is dependent on how much natural light there is in the room and what colors you have in adjacent rooms. If you want to go with lighter cabinets, a white or off white color will brighten the kitchen. You could keep the island the same color as the permimeter cabinets or do a stained cabinet for the island or a different color painted base cabinet. The best thing to do if you are replacing the cabinets, is to look at cabinet door samples in your kitchen to see how they look next to your wood floors.
