Lovely shot but the lights are at the front of the cabinet I think, either on the door frame or at the front of each shelf. LEDs may be an option

    To backlight a cabinet:
    2 solutions:
    a) you have to add a return at the base of each shelf (lose space) and then drill through the inside base (L & R) of each cupboard to run your wires. You then place strip or rope lights along this. Your shelves are now backlit. You can add opaque perspex to diffuse the light further. Everything in your shelf will be in silhouette.
    b) if you your horizontal shelf can be planed and reduced in width you can add your lighting to the wallfacing side

You could create a beautiful glowing for your glass fronted cabinets using LED Strip Lights or LED Pucks. They are easy to install, energy efficient and create a wonderful, finished look.
