How well does Travertine do in a shower?

I have heard conflicting opinions on travertine. How well does it hold up in a shower. I've heard it must be sealed every few yrs. Also have heard even when it has been sealed, there is evidence of mold and mildew forming. What are your thoughts.

I have been installing it for years, and have never had negative feedback, Use epoxy grout, and tile as close as possible(small grout lines). Use Red Guard water proofing on Hardie Board before tile goes on. And as with any bathroom tile regular cleaning helps to deter mold and mildew.
