The Island was made by a commercial woodworking shop that builds butcher block tables arranged by my cabinet maker. This one is 4" thick and made of 3/4" laminated oak. The rest of the counter tops are dry Douglas Fir I had milled myself from a 300 year- old growth tree that was damaged in a local 2005 forest fire.
