well... it all depends of what is behind these wall panels. Usually, surround speakers and some sort of acoustic panels are hidden behind panels with stretched fabric. In this case, fabric MUST be acoustically transparent, so it does not interfere with speakers behind. Wrong choice of fabric will reduce high frequencies and reduce overall sound quality. If speakers are on the ceiling, again, wrong choice of fabric and panels will absorb certain frequencies and could ruin overall sound. Too many cinema rooms are compromised in this way and many users have no idea how their cinema room should sound.
