You could install Sliding doors that can be closed or open depending on the look you want.

Heavy window treatment gone.
Paint cabinets a light color.
Get rid of all possible clutter.

Agree with removing the carpet and window treatments. I would also replace the current mirror above the vanity with one surrounded by a simple frame. A floor plan would be very helpful.
