Kitchen Storage Solutions Hide and Keep
Rollout drawers, pullout cabinets and slide-in doors are just a few of the options for keeping kitchen items out of sight but close at hand
Large or small, a kitchen has to function well for you to get the most out of it, whether that means great meals, great entertaining or both. Accessibility is the main ingredient. And one element that is globally useful, whether you're a top chef or an ace sandwich maker, are storage features that pull out or pull up.
Designing a high-performance kitchen requires an in-depth knowledge of your household's unique needs and habits. In a large kitchen, you don't want to have to run from one end to the other while trying to prepare a meal. In a small kitchen, unpiling and unstacking is cumbersome and irritating when you're trying to get things done. Pull-up or pullout components have the power to increase your kitchen's usability tremendously.

Rollout spice drawers are an effective, efficient use of space. Dress them up with unique hardware (and custom door fronts), as shown in this design, and you've got yourself what looks like beautiful built-in furniture.
Showcase your rollout vertical storage by accenting the drawer front with a contrasting material and different hardware.
Creating a pullout cooking utensil station for spoons, spatulas and oven mitts is an ingenious use of the rollout storage idea. A pegboard or perforated metal backing creates an easy (and affordable) backdrop for stress-free reachability.
Pullout drawers like this are also great for trash and recycling storage. Out of sight, out of mind (and smell).

Full-height rollout cabinets give you even more storage opportunities — and, in some cases, can serve as a pantry of sorts, if space is limited. Casters can provide additional support when needed.
The kitchen is located along one side of this tiny apartment. All the necessary elements are neatly integrated — refrigerator, cooktop, sink, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. Even the dining table pulls out along with all the kitchen appliances at mealtimes.

What a lovely example of how small can be both functional and beautiful. The cabinet doors slide back into vertical compartments so door swings don't take up extra space in the tight seating area, making mealtime elements reachable and beautiful.
In this design, I appreciate the addition of glass shelves, which let you see what's buried behind the front row of goods.
In small spaces, every piece of furniture has to serve as many purposes as possible for comfortable living. In this design, a printer hidden in a cabinet pulls out when the banquette becomes a work top. Ideas like this make small space living beautiful, and in some ways, enviable.
Hide sponges, brushes and other unsightly small sink clutterers with a little pullout panel. The panel just under the sink is usually just for show and isn't functional; this one earns its keep.
Doors don't always have to go out; they can go up too. The ultimate in innovation is right here: a slide-out shelf behind a pull-up cabinet door. (Click the photo to see the full image.) Keep unsightly small appliances (blender, mixer) stashed neatly but still accessible.
Pull-up doors are especially useful in places where open doors sticking into a space could get in the way of a passerby.
This door on a cabinet full of stemware covers the space that normally requires two doors. The part that hangs down makes it reachable for those of small stature.
Bar none, this is the most beautiful shelf pullout I've ever seen.
