Located above the coast of Malibu, this two-story concrete and glass home is organized into a series of bands that hug the hillside and a central circulation spine. Living spaces are compressed between the retaining walls that hold back the earth and a series of glass facades facing the ocean and Santa Monica Bay. The name of the project stems from the physical and psychological protection provided by wearing reflective sunglasses. On the house the “glasses” allow for panoramic views of the ocean while also reflecting the landscape back onto the exterior face of the building. The doorway to this stunning New Hampshire home is a custom stained glass piece commissioned by Makena Herget and took over a year to create. The door is made with Brazilian mahogany. The marble floor entryway leads guest down a hallway that feels like an art gallery. The art is a curated collection of artisan pieces from around the world. Faux painting on arches designed to look like stone brings texture to the space. Venetian plaster on entry way walls. Carpet runners custom made by Hokanson Carpet. The front door is custom designed and artisan created stained glass and African Mahogany wood.

From our initial meeting, Ms. Corridor had the ability to catch my vision and quickly paint a picture for me of the new interior design for my three bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, and 3,000 sq. ft. penthouse apartment.
