This new construction farm house needed the perfect kitchen to match the rest of the house. We began with Diamond's Prelude line in Hickory Woodhall in Harvest. We added a wine rack and cove brown molding to insinuate the tall upper cabinetry. The granite was in color Verde Aquarius Leather and complimented with stone backsplash. All appliances were in stainless steel while the Delta faucet in oil rubbed bronze. The main focal point was the kitchen island. The island's countertop was a natural wood in a light hickory stain. The last touching point was the stained glass fixture.

We added oak where the old wall was and staggered the remaining tile into the new flooring. (The tile continues into the powder room, replacing it would have meant replacing that floor also.)

The completely remodeled kitchen is now the focal point of the home. The modern concrete countertops, subway tiles and unique custom cabinets add clean lines and are complemented by the warm and rustic reclaimed wood open shelving. Made with beech and birch wood, the flush inset cabinets feature unique routed pulls and a beaded face frame. The functional butcher block topped island is on wheels and contains several storage drawers.

This image perfectly showcases the softness and neutral colours of the wood meeting the hardness of the metal. The contrast of the two is what adds such interest to this kitchen. It's not always about colour, materials in their raw form can add such drama. Behind the double Smeg oven is a brushed stainless steel sheet splashback bonded with plywood. Desiring a whimsical French Country style with a twist, we used playful yet sophisticated colors. A creamy, whipped butter, color was paired with a burnt orange to create contrast and interest. Artichoke worked with the renowned interior designer Ilse Crawford to develop the style of this bespoke kitchen in a Grade II listed Regency house. We made two furniture ‘elements’ providing the main functions for the kitchen. Care has been taken not to interfere with the original interior architecture of the room. Tall Georgian windows enable light to flood over the furniture as well as providing delightful views of the grounds. Limited palettes of fine quality materials help create the feeling of an art installation, enhancing the drama of this fabulous room. Primary materials: Bookmatched Statuary marble and hand burnished gloss pigmented lacquer. The kitchen scullery is in English oak, finished in soap, a traditional Georgian period finish.
